Now that they have improved the MBA I am seriously thinking about getting one for Sandi for Christmas. She as been using PCs forever but she is absolutely in love with her iPhone and looks at my MBP with envy.
The way I figure it, I can get her the Air and then I can use it anytime I travel. Also, I can then get her to use my MBP a little and she may actually like it better once she uses it a bit because of the 17" screen and how well 4GB RAM runs her favorite apps, Photoshop & InDesign.
Comments are welcome from everyone. I'm only considering the 1.86GHz and SSD.

First things first - your wife will never lend you her Air to take with you on trips. Once it's hers, it's NOT yours. ;) But you will score some major points giving it as a gift!
I just got the latest Air and love it. I don't do all that much processor-intensive stuff, though, so I can't speak to how well it performs doing such tasks. The worst I do is Photoshop Elements and big Excel spreadsheets. Other than that, it's just word processing, web browsing, and managing my music. I've found it to be quieter and quicker than my MacBook with a Core Duo 2.0ghz processor and 2GB of RAM. I recommend it - couldn't be happier with mine!

She will love the Air. I haven't been disappointed with mine once since I bought it. I don't do much processor intensive stuff either but it handles well on its own with all other programs I have used. I did notice a bit of lag playing Spore but that was because I had the settings too high. Once I changed them it worked fine.
