I jailbreaked my phone the day after I got it, so I am wondering what exactly slows the phone down with jailbreaking? I have read that winterboard will (didn't install that), catagories might (uninstalled that)..I'm wondering because my phone has gotten a bit sluggish and Safari seems to be crashing a lot more now.

I didn't spend a whole lot of time with the phone in a stock 2.2 configuration so I guess that if I went back to stock it would fix the lag? The thing is that I use Backgrounder for Pandora and there are a couple apps from Cydia that I use quite a bit, so if going back to stock will not fix the Safari crashes and lag then I will just put up with it.

So my question, will this lag and safari issues happen on any iphone, or is it a jailbreak issue?

The lag is basically a jailbreaking issue.

It doesn't lag with me, not before and not after I jailbroke it.

Every iPhone I've seen post 2.0 has lagged once jailbroken. There is lag inherent in the operating system itself even without a jailbreak, but the current method of pwning seems to do something to magnify the issue. It behaves like some sort of memory leak. It doesn't appear to come from any specific jailbreak application, as I've tested all the popular ones.

It's gotten a LOT better with 2.2 I can deal with the lag now, but there is no denying that after having the phone on for a few hours, things take longer to open. Restarting the phone solves the issue.... for a while. It's not the end of the world, but it is definitely there.
