That's a really sad commentary on the state of affairs in this country. This line in the article really made me angry and sick:
“When they were saying they had to leave, that an employee got killed, people were yelling, ‘I’ve been on line since yesterday morning,’ ” Ms. Cribbs told The Associated Press. “They kept shopping.”
Pitiful.

Well we can't assume that all Americans would handle it this way. It is a sad thing to see for sure.

I hope the family sues Wal-Mart into bankruptcy. They deserve all they can get.
There was a report of a pregnant woman being injured and losing the baby at the hospital. If indeed this is true, then you have 2 death's in this mess.
You can bet the boys in Bentonville are sweating in the boardroom as we speak.

It always seems as if the big injuries and such occur at a Wal*Mart year after year. At Best Buy the employees take down the names of those waiting in line and hands out tickets accordingly. There are no huge crowds trying to rush in the door at the same time and thus no injuries. Maybe this will serve as a wake up call to Wal*Mart and cause them to prepare a bit better next time.

That still doesn't excuse the stampeding customers who ran over the poor son of a *****. We can sue the corporation all we want, but individuals need to take personal responsibility for their actions (killing a man and perhaps an unborn baby in their mad dash for those super-cool mega-colossal holiday savings).
"Oh, I'm sorry I was one of the people who accidentally trampled your husband/father to death, but I was able to get a Nintendo Wii and the Lost DVD boxed set for a great price!"
"Listen, lady -- I'm really sorry about your baby; I had no idea you were pregnant. If I'd known, I wouldn't have shoved you into the endcap (or whatever) like I did..."
Sure - sue Walmart. But I hope the greedy MFers who killed both the guy and the woman's baby (if she did lose a baby in this melee) burn in hell -- I really do.

Oh, I am with you 100% on that. Didn't mean to imply they were innocent, just overlooked that fact. I truly hope the police take the time to look at the tapes and track these a@@holes down. The ones responsible need to get life.
You are right. How can you walk out of that store with a "bargain" knowing that you were part of killing someone? Truly sad times.
Believe I heard the baby is OK thank goodness.

I'm still catching up on posts, but how could anyone step on another human being without stopping to help them up or at least protect them from further harm? How can you literally step on a person and keep walking, not to mention shopping? It's sickening.

I was thinking this too, how the heck do you continue to walk, or run knowing your stepping on a human being? Can people be this blind to what they are doing? I think each one of those shoppers actually commited manslaughter and should be brought up on charges. And walmart should really be sued to the hilt for this...they had the nerve to reopen the store that day for business as usual.....im suprised that they didnt prop the poor victim up against a wall, put a santa hat on him, and make him a greeter. This is one of the sickest and saddest stories i have seen this year. A man no longer walks the earth, and his family will never spend another thanksgiving with him, because some people needed to save 10 bucks on a microwave oven.

The family of the victim has filed a lawsuit against Wal*Mart. Apparently the victim was 6'5''. Not a small guy by any means.
