I update to 2.2 and for some reason - I cannot delete mail - either one at a time or in bulk - I get a message "Unableto Move Message" The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash. I deleted the e-mail account and reset it up but it didn't fix the problem. Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks

Count me in, I cant delete my email while using AOL on my iphone either. The few pictures I downloaded from my email are blurry as well. I'm going to go to Verizon and check out the Blackberry Storm tomorrow, this is getting ridiculous.

Thank you Apple

Go to your AOL account// advanced. Look for the "deleted mailbox" option. Make sure it is pointed towards 'on my iphone// trash.

It's checked off but thanks for the suggestion. I'll give Apple a call a little later.

I tried the email reset and network reset with no luck. These updates are pointless. I want my 2.1 back. Any other suggestions?

Anyone find a solution yet? This is REALLY annoying.

To me it's not so much that it's annoying it's just that the phone isn't doing what it's meant to do all because of a software upgrade. Than when you consider how much it cost me to get out of my Verizon contract and buy an Iphone it only exasperates the problem.

For whatever reasons I can now delete my AOL email on my iPhone.

Thanks

I have my aol and yahoo email accounts on my phone. If you go under mail settings, then click the account, then advanced, I noticed under yahoo it says on the iPhone and on the server. Under my yahoo account, both server and iPhone settings are set to trash. But aol I can only set the iPhone option to trash and there is no trash option under server.

Did apple delete it?

I tried altering all the settings, deleted the account and reinstalled. I dont think the user can resolve this issue. I just hope we dont have to wait until the next update.

On my AOL account on the phone. hit advanced----->deleted mailbox----->AIM-Trash.

On my phone it list an AIM trash and that option has worked for me with no problems.

i know your address works both ways... justahsquirrel@aol.com and justahsquirrel@aim.com.. goes to the same mail box.

hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, if apple continues down this track, I'm going for the storm. This is ridiculous. My "on the server" options are:

Inbox
Drafts
Sent Items
Saved
SavedIMs
Spam
VOICEMAIL

No trash...How odd.

Edit: 10 Minutes Later.....I can delete messages. HA

This was happening to me also. Mine was checked but I clicked it again just to be sure and even though it appeared to do nothing, it worked. Now my messages are going to the trash.

Danni'e solution worked for me. It was checked and I presses it anyway. Mail working. Try it. This is under advanced, deleted mailbox.

Had the same problem. Did everything as above. Nothing.
Then I went to settings, mail, went to my acct., advanced, and just reset all of the options. More or less turn them off and then turned them back on. Bingo.

I can't delete my emails, either, and I've noticed that the screen is much darker, too. Anyone else experiencing this?

To delete AOL messages on your iPhone:

Log on to AOL. Create a new folder (I called mine "iPhone Trash").

On your iPhone:

Settings --> Mail --> Go to your AOL email account --> Advanced --> Deleted Mailbox --> Switched the selected folder from "Trash folder on the iPhone" to the new trash folder you created on the server (in my case iPhone Trash).

The first time you go back to your AOL account and go to Mailboxes, you will see the folder you created for a second but then it will disappear. A Trash folder will then appear. It's wierd.

This worked flawlessly for me. :)

do you guys have to pay for AOL mail? i haven't used that in so long but i just remember cancelling that and it being the most ridiculous process ever, almost like harassment. i hope you guys all get this figured out, but consider switching to gmail or somethin like that? i use gmail and have never had a single issue, just a thought.

Pepe, AOL is free these days but way back when AOL charged a monthly fee it was a PITA to cancel your membership. You could cancel it easy enough but those sons ah britches keep charging your CC. Now that it's free it's just a matter of not using their service anymore.

To the OP, I had the same problem with my iPhone and my AOL account, for some strange reason after a couple of days I was able to delete my email. Why it took two days is beyond me.

^gotcha, wasn't sure as i haven't used it in awhile. like you said about the cancellation it is a major PITA!!!!!

sounds like a pretty weird situation, like i said hope you guys get it figured out. if i hear about anything i will post it up for sure.

go into mail setting for your AOL account, you will find an option for trash that even tho it has a check by it it is not really checked, jus uncheck an recheck that trash option and you will be set to go

this was a bug caused by the 2.2 update

I fixed Mine. Goto the advanced button for the email account. Switch the deleted items to go to your spam folder. Then exit out and delete a couple of emails. After you have done this go back to the advanced tab and switch your deleted items to go to the iphone trash. This should resolve your problem, it worked for me.
