Most completed the task in about 20 minutes, myself included. But there have been other people experiencing what you are going thru. I think one person said it took 2 hours. Just hang in there. Believe me it is worth it. A great update. Phone is really snappy now.

You might want to try a 3rd party program (http://www.copytrans.net/)to backup your iPhone.
