Email (GMail) error message

Hey.

I get the following message when attempting to send an email from my iPhone:

Cannot Send Mail
"The sender address was invalid"

I got this message twice last night and again this evening...the only exception is, last night the emails were sent successfully within a minute or so. Not so much this time around. I have had the phone for about three months now and have not had this issue before.

Any ideas as to what's wrong?

I would try two things. Do a hard reset first. If this doesn't help, delete the account and start over.

I had this issue on my version 1 iPhone after updating to 2.2. I figured it was a conflict between the firmware and the hardware so I purchased a 3g. Same thing happens on my comcast mail accounts. I've reset the phone(s), I've deleted the emails and put them back, checked wifi settings, disconnected from wifi, tried several different hot spots. To no avail...

Suggestions?

I had the same problem too, and it came out of no where. it was working fine one day, and the next, it didn't work. I ended up having to switch my outgoing mail settings to "Rogers" (carrier) SMTP instead of Gmail's.
After the 2.2 update, the problem was gone, so I probably could have just fixed it by doing a restore.
