I just got my wife a 16gb white iPhone. Now, I need to figure out how to manage it with iTunes.

Do I use the same iTunes that I have on my PC? or does she need her own iTunes account? How do I get apps that I have purchased for my iPhone onto her iPhone? Do we both have to have the same Apps?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

it works the same way as 2 ipods with the same itunes library. anything that is in the library can be synced to both phones if both phones use the same itunes account

We have two phones. Just make a folder for you and one for the wife and drop the songs in it you want, or you can load all the same songs if you want. Then sync only what you want to each phone. You can load any of the apps by just selecting the ones you want of each phone. All on the same account.

You can even download things to the phone just use the same account info for both phones.

The best way to do this is to have separate accounts for you both--that will maintain two separate sets of everything.

My wife and I sync on the same computer, same iTunes installation/account. We pull from the same media and app library. You can specify which apps and things are synced to which phone. I sync music via playlists to make it easy. She syncs her playlist, I sync mine. We've never run into any problems doing it this way.

I have found it easiest just to set up two different profiles on the same computer, but use the same iTunes account on both iTunes programs and enable sharing of the iTunes folder between the two sides.

Now for my mac, it seems to have done all this for me without needing to enable anyting, very trick!

What is the advantage of splitting it up to two different profiles, unless you and your wife don't like to share things? I'm missing something.

different preferences. folders, appearance, applications... usual stuff.

I swear I'm not trying to be difficult or argue my point of view, I'm honestly curious:

Folders? How does this apply in iTunes land? Appearance... of what? Applications can be controlled by the individual device settings in iTunes. Do people really like to buy applications twice?

Again, I'm fully willing to accept the fact that I'm missing something big in this whole thread.

My wife and I use different profiles in Vista she has her log in and i have mine. We each have our own iTunes on our own log in.

If i didnt do it this way i would NEVER have any iTunes money lol

Next month though i will be syncing to my new 2.4 MacBook :tounge:

Yes different profiles in OSX. And the reason being is that contacts, calendars, mail and bookmarks are different and cannot be seperated from my phone and her's using 1 user profile on the computer.

For music and Apps etc the single profile would work in both the OS and iTunes, when it comes to calendars and contracts, is there a way to have differnet contacts and calendars go onto the phone with only one profile? I use my work exchange for that part so have never had an issue. But I could see that be an issue if it's not posable to to sync up seperate contacts.?

Ah right, my bad. See, me and the wifey share contacts and calendars so that's where I'm coming from.

Is it even an option to be selective with contacts and calendars if you have two phones? (other then add all the ones on there and take the ones off the phone you don't want? I have never attempted this.

The only way i can think of is in Outlook you can create different "folders" for contacts and calendars. For example, you can create a wife and husband folder in Oulook for contacts and calendar. Each phone user can manage their own folder within outlook. In itunes when you sync all you would do is select which folders to sync.
