My wife and I went to Knotts Berry Farm today, for about... 2.5 hours. 2 fires popped up in the Corona area, and by lunch, we could barely see. Luckily for us, we live about 30 miles south of the area. The first pic was taken with her phone in the car on the way home. The rest were taken from a park down the road. Again, the fires about about 20-30 miles away from us, but look how much smoke is in the air!

Wow, I've never experienced anything like that. I feel badly for the residents of the area - how frightening.

These fires are very scary.

Being in Burbank, and one of the fires being in Sylmar, that's not too far away.
I hope the winds don't pick up like they're supposed to tomorrow.

Well, so far so good. There's no talk about evacuating, hopefully there won't be any...

Take your bull**** somewhere else. This thread is about the fires in California. If you care to bash myself, or others from California, that's fine. Do it in another thread. I'm sure we'll be happy to set you straight.

I hope they get the fires out soon! We get fires in FL when we do not get enough rain. Last time we had fires in our area, the FL State Troopers had to close I95 and SR 528 because of smoke and fog. It made commuting quite a chore.

When was that? The last big fire I remember was the polk fires back in '01 when they shut down I4.

I haven't been on here the last couple of days because my husband has been on the fire lines in Sylmar and now in Diamond Bar. I am glued to the TV most of the day and every time I hear a fireman is injured my blood goes cold and I start calling him and texting him like crazy until he has time to answer me so I know he is alright. I can't sleep at night. I am very close to these fires myself where I can watch from the backyard. He was suppose to be released off duty tomorrow but as we suspected they are not letting them go home yet. They have been fighting these fires day and night since Friday and they are exhausted. Last year he was in Malibu for 7 days before they let him come home. I get worried sick and no matter how many fires he has gone to it does not get easier and it makes me sick. So here I sit and let EIC take my mind off things for awhile.:frown:

Update: no husband yet today, they are still not letting him go home, even though the fires are dying down, they have to help with making sure there are no hot spots and they have to escort victims who lost homes back to their homes. He won't be home tomorrow either because thats his regular shift to work, so I am hoping he will be back Wednesday:frown:.

Were you referring to Connie? If so, an apology is in order. I'm restraining myself from calling you an *******.

I can only think he was referring to Ramesh's original post, still very inappropriate for fire victims, no place for sarcasm.

I was saying that to Ranesh or Ramesh, the thread starter. I usually skim all posts and get right to the point of the thread. So yes, please restrain yourself until you understand the point. :)

And at Connie, God be with your husband and you, and I hope your husband goes back home to you safe and just fine. I am sorry about the sarcastic post, as I said, I didn't ready any other posts, I should have quoted Ramesh but his post was too long to be quoted you know. Buffy, I'm not that much of an ass hole to make fun of what Connie said okay, I'm a human being and actually, my very own cousin (who is more than a brother to me) is working in construction, so you know how many buildings he has to climb up and do his work every day, you must know how dangerous that job is. And I am sorry any way that you didn't get my point.

Thanks for clarifying, Tarek. I did not mean to 'jump you; I'm just a bit protective of my favorite EIC members, and I'm not a fan of sarcasm online as it can be misconstrued. I mean no harm. -B

It is people like your husband that make this county so great. If it wasn't for men and women like this,we would be in big trouble. These guys don't ask or hesitate. They just know they have a job to do and go do it. Just like 9/11. People come out of the woodwork in times of need with no thought to what might or could happen to them. Connie, I salute you and your husband and all the volunteers that keep this great country safe.
God bless.

Thanks Dave and Don, my thanks are gone for today but I will be sure and thank you guys tomorrow.

Don-you post made me tear up. Sometimes no one gets what I go through except maybe other Fireman's wives. But I cannot complain, it is a blessing for us to have my husband have such a wonderful job he loves. He is my hero, he is not only a fireman but a Paramedic and saves people at their most critical hour when a doctor is not near, he amazes me with some of the stories. He chose to work in a highly gang populated city because of the trauma he see's daily and is good at what he does with the critically injured. So he switches every shift from Fireman to Paramedic. When the fires hit and he is working as fireman that day then he's gone until it's over. Well I guess I am carrying on a little too much, just some info about his job. But as for me, I feel like a single mom a lot, and he misses a lot of the kids games or school plays, etc. but they understand his work and I video tape everything. But again, I cannot complain, the military wives who have husband's over seas fighting for our country have it way worse than me. I can't begin to fathom what they must go through.
But I so appreciate your thoughtful comments and concern. I really appreciate it.

I'm sorry for not quoting Ramesh because that's what I should have done. I know you mean no harm and it's okay, I really am with Connie too and it makes me willing to SMS her husband too, I am serious. I don't like these kinds of situations at all. Even though I might seem sarcastic most of the time, I do worry a lot about every one and feel their pain.
