Well, I saw it in person at the AT&T store and fell in love with it...
Not to mention I don't really like my Curve anymore, and also, I figured with my birthday being next week, I could buy myself a nice little gift. :wink:

haha so do i! i was in att today looking at that htc fuze but the screen is too small for me... i saw the bold... it looks pretty sharp but i don't see myself going without my iphone

Indeed. One cannot use an iPhone and then permanently switch to a BB.
The bold and storm are unlike any blackberry before them. Ill have to disagree I made the switch. To me its a happy medium. The workhorse blackberry is known for being an an added excellent media experience, stunning screen, and good web browsing. My favorite device I've had in a long while. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the storm :D

I don't know of any phone out there I'd rather have than the iPhone. However, I haven't seen this "storm" and you have me curious... Is it a better phone? I'm assuming that I could get a 16gig card but how about the Internet and surfing?

I am going to give the Storm some time....BUT, if the iPhone, and any subsequent generations, continue to be as flaky as the 3G was, I ain't sticking around.

I like my 3G....but with all the problems associated with it, it has been a double edged sword. And, I am a tech guy, and I like new toys....everything I have read points to the Storm being a really great device. The iPhone is important to me b/c it serves as my iPod/video player/remote access to web. The Storm has the potential of beating the iPhone in terms of web browsing, which I do not doubt is possible. I am not so sure about the other multimedia uses of the device however, and I do prefer the MAC interface compared to windows based, or even how the BB Storm seems to be layed out.

WE shall see how this plays out. I have high hopes for Apple to respond aggressively, but they better make sure they improve their manufacturing practices going forward....no more of this mass-production, launch-based Beta TEsting style fo luanch like the 3G.

I ain't jumping ship, but I am going to stand on the sidelines and watch this play out. It should be interesting.

I have to stop looking at the BB Bold. It looks more and more tempting.

I like what Tex said though about the iPhone being the all in one iPod/phone/internet/remote for music (that is big for me) I just can't part with it.

Thanks. I gotta say though, it is a pretty nice device. Now I know what its like to have a real 3G device. Everywhere I go, I have 3G. Even at my friends house where I never even had one bar of EDGE, I now have from 3-5 bars of 3G. Its awesome. Also, the keyboard is actually pretty nice to type on. Internet browsing is very similar to the iPhones. It has full HTML. AND, it takes good pictures. :)
I can see how Aggie got rid of his iPhone for this so easily.

Well it depends what you mean by "use"... If you mean like all those corporate professionals with BB's, then I probably shouldn't have one. All I do is internet browsing, texting, take pictures, sometimes e-mail, and call people with it. It can however do media things very well, and the screen is absolutely incredible. Better than the iPhone. If those are the kind of things you do, then this phone would probably be good for you. But its nothing like any other BB, except maybe the Storm. But its like nothing they've ever made before. Btw, I'm been browsing the web a ton, and I'm posting this from it right now. So far, no crashes and the battery is holding up extremely well with 3G usage. :)

Hmm...mainly its personal preference, but there are things, MANY thing, the Bold does better than the iPhone, and some that the iPhone can't do.

BUT, I still love my iPhone. :)

-Send and receive files via Bluetooth
-Higher screen resolution
-Has copy and paste
-Can send pictures not via e-mail
-Louder speaker
-Has flash
-Battery life is incredible
-More signal in more places
-Has 3G more often, and doesn't kill the battery.

These are some of the things on the BB that are better than the iPhone.

What does the iPhone do better than the Bold?

Umm... It has more onboard storage? :laugh2:

The web browsing is pretty good on the Bold, but the iPhone's is better due to the touch screen.

It takes great pictures in good lighting conditions, but the Bold does too (unlike my previous Curve).

GAMES. The gaming experience is incredible on the iPhone. I doubt the Bold can come close. The touch-screen, accelerometer and everything make it incredible on the Bold, but then again, you don't buy a BlackBerry expecting it to be a good gaming device.

I guess media because of the fact that it is much more easier to manage and because of the onboard storage. But then again, videos on the Bold look better than on the iPhone.

The iPhone can do certain things like in Dynolicious that the Bold can't.

That's all I can think of so far... Hopefully others can come chime in...

What's the point of having a screen that big if a phone with a screen half the size has a much better screen?

I agree with Aggie though. It is probably the best keyboard I've ever used on a cellphone.

Thank you sir, but I beg to differ.
In my area Verizon works the best. Also we have a membership at a camping resort near Palm Springs which we spend a lot of weekends and holidays at. Everyone with Verizon has signal there, I always feel like an idiot because I have to borrow someone's Verizon phone if I want to make a call.
And last and most importantly, my whole family has Verizon, every last one of them, so they are all IN and send each other MMS, videos, etc. I am the only one in my family who is OUT.
So anyways, just thought I would explain my reasons a little, but basically it falls down to where you live and what your reception is like. For me AT&T is not the best.

yeah man, the Bold will lure you in. Just don't play the Speed Racer demo video they have on it. That will be the kill shot. The screen on the Bold is the nicest of any I've seen, and that Speed Racer video looks almost HD.

I don't know that the Bold intentionally copied the iPhone with the bezel. The chrome bezel has a definite slimming effect in appearance. There's no doubt the Bold is a wide bodied phone.

Personally I don't like the chrome bezel on my Bold. I didn't like it on my iPhone. I'm going to order a black one and change it.

I agree with you. I was with Verizon prior to switching to AT&T for the iPhone. Best network coverage I've had. I have no complaints about verizon's network at all.

My complaint with verizon is how they cripple features and nickel and dime you to death.

hmmmm sounds strangely similar to another company we all know and love that makes very nice yet crippled high end consumer electronics....

The quality is crap. Even Apple went cheap with the quality of 3g, look at all the problems with cracks, and silencer switches falling off.

If you're referring to the screen resolution between the two phones, I've seen the specs. They are the same. But as Dave said, it looks crisper on smaller screens.

I prefer non touch screen phones. They are much easier and faster to use. But touch screen phones that already have a keypad (like a keyboard or a number pad) is easier than an iPhone or a Storm for instance. Where you have to choose Phone > Keypad every time and then type up the number. But of course maybe that's because I've been using Nokia phones from 1989 until 2007 when I started buying touch screen phones like Tytn II.

watching youtube over 3g or edge looks pretty bad, over wifi it's a bit better. now a movie purchased from itunes, holy cow! I bought the nightmare before christmas and it's darn near HD quality. iphone screen is great!!!
