Random addition of 2 fields each for "home" and "work"?

I recently noticed a whole bunch of my contacts on my iPhone 3G have arbitrarily been assigned 4 blank fields (2 home, 2 work) in their "Contact Info" page. It's irritating because I'm a little OCD about these things and because it displaces the "Text Message" button at the bottom.

I believe Mobile Me is to blame, as it has been doing weird things lately (i.e., randomly deleting all contact names and just leaving me with numbers), but am unsure as to how to fix it.

Any suggestions?
