My yahoo mail is pushing just fine ATM, just got an email a minute ago actually. However, I was having some problems with it not retrieving my mail a couple days ago.

Mine hasn't been working correctly for three weeks now. It's getting really old.

Same Here!!! I'm not sure how long it's been, but it has been at least weeks. It still works, but not properly. It seems to retrieve mail when my other pop account fetches.

Mine stopped working too last week. It's really annoying the crap outta me. I did read in the apple forums that it is a Yahoo issue. let's see if i can find that link again...

If you do a quick search you'll see that most users find Yahoo sketchy at best. I've found that force quitting the mail app will help. Also, you can try a reboot or a repsring (if you're jailbroken).

I've heard push mail issues since last year. but i've never experienced it before. Until now. I've done some searching and tried everything suggested. From, rebooting the phone to deleting the mail account and setting it up again. It's a problem with the yahoo servers.

The solution would be if Yahoo would finally get it right. (or got it right from the beginning)

I just find it strange that my yahoo mail pushed perfectly for months, then a few weeks ago, just stopped working correctly.
Once I get stuck on a problem like this, I usually don't quit trying till I resolve it. (Or at least I find that someone else has resolved it ) :foot:

Well, I "apparently" just found the answer. It seems a little while back, and I don't know when, they did something with their site that doesn't allow for the Iphone to receive push while you are still logged on. Another words, don't just leave the site while you are still logged on, but log off first.
I don't think they did this on purpose, but this has obviously happened.
I just tried this, and then sent an email from my other pop account to my Yahoo account, and received it on my phone a few seconds after I pushed send.
Really!!!!!!

But how long do you think it's going to last? That's the question. (i'm not trying to sound cynical) :)

I don't have the answer to that. I can tell you that it's an hour or two later and it's till working perfect. Only time will tell, but I'll report back on my progress.

Can anyone else confirm this? I won't be able to try it til I get home tonight from work since every computer at home is logged into my Yahoo account. If it works it's an easy fix til Yahoo get's their act together.

I have been emailing Yahoo weekly for the last few weeks and all they have to say is "our engineering team is working on the problem".

This didnt work for me, i still have to manually check in order to receive it. This is really getting old, my work exchange account pushes just fine, i get emails on my phone before i get them in outlook. Its just strange it worked perfectly fine for months and all of a sudden it stopped working.

Isn't the fetch schedule supposed to take over is push isn't available or turned off? I have it set to 15min and I have mail that been sitting in the box for over an hour that I haven't been notified about. This whole mail thing is starting to pi$$ me off!

I'd forward my yahoo to my work exchange but it doesn't leave a copy on the yahoo server.

This is over 12 hours that mine is still working. I don't have any idea how long it will work, but I will keep testing it.
Does everyone that is having this problem have a Yahoo page? Have you ever signed on there? Is it still logged on or off? Have you ever emailed Yahoo from there to complain about this? I did email Yahoo from there to complain, I can't believe that that had anything to do with it, as I've never even heard back from them.

I've emailed them about four times. Each time they've told me "their engineering team is working on the issue"...whatever that means.

I really hope their engineering team is working on some other very important stuff. After everything I've read, I believe they all really need to be replaced if not.

Just for ****s n giggles, i created a new yahoo account. Set it up on my phone, rebooted it, logged off the account on firefux. And still nothin... I thought maybe it might be slow. But it's been over half an hour now. It didn't fetch it either when i set it up to fetch.

I know how ridiculous this sounds, but I just sent another test email from my pop account to my yahoo account, and it was actually received, showed the "1" message, and made the sound telling me it was there in under 5 seconds.

One other thing i tried was resetting the network settings and still nothing. I really don't want to restore my phone. I'm just going to wait and see what happens the next few days. I might eventually try doing a restore.

You're not sending from your iPhone are you? That might explain why you're getting it to work. If you're sending from your iPhone it's also checking the other inboxes while it's sending.

Don't bother restoring. I did it twice this week and it didn't help.

You're absolutely correct. I just sent two test messages from the same pop account from my computer. I'd say guess what, but you already know the answer.
I have not received either of them yet, and it has been several minutes, vrs seconds before.
I'll post again when I know more.........

I have tried all of the suggested fixes found here and elsewhere: - reseting iphone - restoring iphone - various voodoo fixes - power cycle - going into mail, holding home button till mail quits - rub stomach, pat head, balance on one foot and yodeling - setting up a whole new account on yahoo None of them work. The problem, as far as I can tell is server side, not iphone (client) side. Until Yahoo/Apple/ATT figures out whats going on, there are lots of us who will not be getting push mail.

Ok...so here's my current work around. It involves using yahoo pop email, MS Outlook, and my exchange email from work.

Here's what I did:

1. Opened Outlook and set up a new email account. I inputted the yahoo pop settings for the account. Outlooked then synced up with yahoo.

2. I then set up a rule in Outlook to forward a copy of all incoming mail to my work email.

Now all my emails get pushed to my work email. So far it's been working very well. I can even reply from my yahoo address from m exchange account with my iPhone. I realize I could have just forwarded my yahoo mail but that way does not leave a copy of the email on the yahoo server.

To use yahoo pop email and forwarding you do need to have yahoo plus. However I think this can method could still be utilized since outlook can also set up IMAP accounts. I'm sure the IMAP settings could be found with a Google search if desired.

Hello Erik,

I just wanted to let you know that our Mobile product team is continuing to work on this issue. I apologize that this is taking so long. The problem is affecting a lot of users and our engineers are working hard to get it fixed, unfortunately it's turned out to be more complicated than they originally thought.

Yahoo! is committed to providing our users with a compelling and high quality experience across all of our products. Thank you for your patience for allowing us to work on this issue.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Mobile.

April

It may be complicated, but it isn't the same as preparation for a space shuttle launch. If they were really working hard to fix it ,it would be fixed for all. I have seen numerous other quotes from others on other sites where Yahoo said they work working on it.
I hate to say the word bull****, oh I just said it. Sorry.........

Yep! deleted both accounts, turned off push. shutdown the phone. restarted, set up both accounts again. turned on push. shutdown, and restarted. nothing. I let the test emails i sent sit there and see if it would eventually push it. After a few hours there was still nothing. I'll wait til the new jailbreak is out for 2.2 before i update. Since they've suggested not to update via iTunes on their blog.

If I am emailing back and forth with someone it usually works pretty good but then there are times when I dont get it at all or get the email the next day or so. My Yahoo push works when it feels like it, and its truly random. It will work part of the day, then disappear, then come back on its own. Nothing I do seems to effect it (reboot, turning the phone off/on, etc.) However, at the same time, my Microsoft Exchange account pushes successfully probably 99% of the time (sometimes I don't see/hear the notification, but I think that's user error :laugh2:)

I believe the problem really is on Yahoo's end, or at least how Yahoo integrates with Apple/AT&T. And what a surprise, given that Apple wants to sell MobileMe subscriptions....
