When will tmobile be getting the iphone on their list, i love tmo and have been with them for 4 years now, unfortunetly they dont have great phone choices :frown: At&t isnt that great in my area, so I was wondering if anyone has heard of any rumors, but alas I am extremely impatient and getting the iphone anyway and just unlocking it :laugh2: (once paypal releases my money)

Not any time soon. Apple and AT&T have a contract which locks the iPhone to AT&T for a couple of years.

Sorry

I can't wait for the contract to end, I will gladly switch back to Verizon when they produce a CDMA or LTS iPhone for that Network.

You could unlock one and use it on tmo.

Hey can I ask? What plan are you on with T-mobile? Do u use the $5.99 internet plan + that hack to use the internet on your iphone? I still have to read into that a bit more to figure all that out .

I still have to read into that a bit more to figure all that out .At first I started off with the $20 total internet package but later found it to be a waste of money cause many people had told me on other forums that it were a little faster...but I figured that I use safari most often at home in the presence of wi-fi so what would it matter if I downgraded to the T-zones plan if I were gonna get data anyways:wink:
-So I went to the T-zones plan and surprisingly it were the same speed as the total internet package lol!

The plan I had was on the T-mobile plan called "FlexPay"
-where you pay your months bill in advance

I had unlimited text, 300min with free weekends, and the T-zone all for $54.60 dollars a month:2cool:

Apple is stupid to make that contract with AT&T anyway. What if some one is from another country and willing to pay a lot of money for that phone just for it to be FACTORY unlocked? They would just have to end up buying it from an unknown store with the stupid turbo sim. *talking about myself by the way*.

Apple can benefit more by selling it unlocked, I am serious, don't ask me how but they still sold more than HTC Diamond did (which is sold unlocked from the official stores).

Could you please tell me how you unlocked it? I am talking about the 3G. I googled for almost two days trying to find any software (paid or free) to unlock it but just couldn't. 99% of them are just selling the turbo sim (some of them even have stupid names like Pig Sim and stuff lol). When I bought it it already came with the turbo sim but I still hate it, because now I can not access my iPhone 3G on iTunes v8 except when I insert the AT&T sim that came with the phone.

I unlocked the v1 iPhone I had
-their isnt an unlock yet for the iPhone 3G

That's what I read in every website, that's so freaking sad. The iPhone Dev Team successfully hacked the baseband of the iPhone 3G though, and they are working out on an unlock which will be produced very soon and free.

I know man its gonna be great :2cool:
-But once that happens the price for unlocked 3G's is gonna skyrocket haha!

Actually it's the opposite. The price of unlocked iPhones will go down hill because now ANY ONE can buy a cheap locked one and unlock it him/herself ;).

Sadly there is no software unlock as others said. In the meantime you can just find a good unlock sim card like the one I bought from guys at http://unlockediphone.info
I read on some forum about a person who bought 3g "unlock software". He paid something like 25 Euros and they sent him pwng???
:)

Well some people are lazy:tounge:
-and would much rather buy it already unlocked and stuff

The price would also increase because of people like me who dont want to buy into a contract and instead use it on Tmobile

at&t paid for the majority of the R&D for the iphone in trade for long term exclusivity. apple pitched the idea to all of the major providers in the US and only at&t bit on it.

exclusivity runs out in 2010 though.

as for factory unlocked, Hutchinson in Hong Kong sells them officially unlocked as required by their local laws. France, via Orange and T-Mobile Deutsche also offer factory authorized unlocking as required by the EU for device roaming and interoperability.

you can get a gray market, factory unlocked 3g iphone here in the US quite easily, but it's not cheap.

but as to why they wont sell it worldwide unlocked, it's because apple is making money from the required data plans ALL providers in ALL countries authorized to sell the iphone. if they sold it unlocked, apple would LOSE millions they're getting from the data plans. i dont think you fully grasp the deals apple has negotiated with all of the carriers authorized to sell the iphone.

Exactly. Which means there is no real point to having an unlocked 3G unless you are just trying to avoid the contract for 2 years.

I don't know if you have seen the G1, google phone; it is with t-mobile, it looks pretty impressive. A guy on the bus had one the other day and it was really slick, the UI did not look bad either.

I have seen and looked over the G1 but personally I think it's an ugly phone I dont like how it slants at the bottom and it just looks to thick for me, I havn't actually held one but in the pictures it just looks a bit to bulky, that's my personal outlook on the phone, but now I do have an iPhone unlocked to work with tmo and it works flawlessly I love it!

The HTC Diamond is not even in the same class as iPhone. No where near the iPhone. M

I'm sorry I am going to have to disagree. It has all the features iPhone is missing. Its touch screen and resolution as just as good as the iPhone's. Most of the HTC devices aren't that good, especially the (may I call it) 'Godly' Tytn II, they made so many advertisements and forums about it while it simply sucks. I have tried it and it failed me so bad. But as for the HTC Diamond and the HTC Touch Pro, they are probably ones of the best touch screen phones I've ever tried. The Touch Cruise failed too, it's horrible. But of course HTC totally succeeded in making the HTC Shift and the HTC Advantage, they are probably the smallest and best laptops I've ever seen in my entire life. If their price wasn't so expensive, I would have definitely bought one.

The G1's appearance is totally horrible. I have held it at T-Mobile in Brooklyn and I didn't really like it that much. I didn't try it, I only held it. It's screen is really cool though, you can slide it up and even rotate it a little, it was cool.

My point was the small screen. Also touch screen should be just that a screen you can touch with your finger. The Diamond and Touch Pro require a Stylus to truly be effective. Windows Mobile is to hard to navigate on a small screen. I wish HTC would have used a G1 type screen for the Diamond and Touch Pro. HTC's attempt to mask Windows Mobiile with Touch-Flo was decent but still wins no prizes with me. I only use my Pro when I absolutely have to. The keyboard is nice lots of room to type but the small screen kills the phone. The memory problem and non working hard reset (that HTC & Sprint) deny is unexcusable. The Diamond was put out with the problem then instead of HTC fixing the problem they release the Pro with the same problem.Mark
