Location of iTunes Music

Here is where my music currently resides on my computer.

Does this mean that I can delete the contents of the My Music icon in the sidebar? Wouldn't this just be doubling up my music on my computer?

If you delete in itunes, you'll be asked if you want to just delete from the library and keep the files or completely remove the entire thing.

no, the songs in your "Music" in the iTunes sidebar ARE the songs in that folder... at least they are if you have the default setup. iTunes is just a means to organize, edit, and use them easily.

in other words, think of the songs listed in "music" as shortcuts to the actual song on your hard drive.
