Beejive IM is the most popular and you can find it on the App Store. It is $15.99, however probably the best option out there for now. It will actually email you alerts when you exit the program, a clunky but useful workaround to the iPhones current lack of push alerts.

Download iTunes and create a new account. You will need a valid Credit Card, or you could purchase prepaid iTunes Cards from most retailers.
