I have never played multiplayer on the iPhone because you have to pay for those apps.
I'm playing Adrenaline Pool Lite (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=294739490&mt=8), which is multiplayer and I love it! But, you can't change your nickname. There is also chat and that's fun too.
I'm not sure if I would pay $4.99 for the real game, though.
