I am more then sure the iPhone i purchased today is an ex AT&T one from america because of the wall charger it came with.

Anyway, its now unlocked and on o2 UK and jailbroken, iPhone version 1,1,1

I want to update to 2.1, but if i do this it will take away the jailbreak so where can i get that QuickPwn you mentioned and a guide (as im scared of doin it!)

Also, will it make my phone at&t again because i need o2

thanks so so much

it depends if you have a mac or pc but you can definitely google quickpwn and its a fairly easy process... i think if you google that, it will come up with some guides as well... you need to jailbreak and unlock the phone so you can use it on o2 UK... if you need any other help, feel free to pm me

well, the links to the jailbreaking software are in it. and once you have that, it's pretty straightforward to jailbreak and unlock, believe it or not. The programs these days are tutorials themselves.

You know if i plug my iphone in now and update from 1.1.1 will it take away my unlock mode meaning my sim wont work?

yes, i think the safest way to do it would be to restore with 2.1.0 (so you will be at "factory default"). Then use any of the programs mentioned in the jailbreaking thread to create a hacked version of 2.1 (which will jailbreak and unlock your phone), and then install that.

If i update now to 2.1, it wont make my iPhone at&t again will it?

yes it will. temporarily. That's what the software mentioned in the other thread is for. It will create a hacked iphone software package that will allow you to use your phone on any GSM network.

Please help,

I went through all the 2.1 updating and its came to a page in iTunes saying 'the sim card inserted in this iphone dones not appear to be supported'

the iphone itself has a usb cable going into itunes and says 'slide for emergency'

obviously it needs unlocking now, whats my best way to go about it and do i exit itunes? :S :'( i so hope i have not broke it

that is expected. from lincon's thread, "If you are a Mac user, see this article (http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/49988701/pwnagetool-and-quickpwn-for-2-1-firmware) for download locations of Pwnagel. If you are a PC user, see this article (http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/50888951/redmond-we-have-a-pwnapple)."
