Should I or shouldn't I?

I am having a hard time decided whether to run out and get myself an iPhone, or patiently try and wait for the next version to be released. I tried the iPhone for the first time last night at my local Apple store, and somehow managed to tear myself away and leave without purchasing one.

I am currently a Verizon customer, and my plan is up in March. I have a family plan, so cancelling the account will cost me $175 x 2. I could afford two phone bills for this amount of time. However, if I purchase the iPhone now, money would be tight for a few months until I can recover and work some overtime. I am a HUGE techno-geek and love new things like this!

I also have heard that Apple could possibly have the next version out in the next year, and that like a car, I should wait til the bugs are worked out...

Anyone have suggestions or feedback? Do I wait? Do I just go for it? HELP! I wish I had unlimited funds right now, and I wouldn't have this problem - I would just go get it!

I am going to get one because my contract is up. But, for your case and if I was in your shoes I would wait for another version. No point in giving money to another carrier to switch.

$350 would be cheaper than paying four phone bills until march. Just depends on whether you can part with $1550 right now. (2 iphones= $1200, 2 ETFs= $350)

One phone is my ex-boyfriends, we just broke up and are on the family plan, and I told him DON'T cancel your phone because then I will be locked into another 2 year plan with them! So, I think I have to wait it out, or come up with $350 to just end the plan.... Ergh. So much to think about!

Just kidding...I ported my verizon numbers over as well...Extra $350 out the window. O well. My razr was a POS...the iPhone is absolutely amazing. I do wish it was on EV-DO to whatever tho.

I did enter in Rush Limbaugh's giveaway yesterday, and although I have no shot to win one, I am keeping my fingers crossed. He was giving away 10 iPhones PLUS 24 months worth of service paid! *i hope i hope* If I don't win one, I don't think I can resist too much longer!

I would do the same, but I don't have a credit card and I would need to find som way to come up with another $350! DOH! Why can't my contract end now on it's own? I renewed it last year, in May, and I am glad I did. Otherwise, it would have normally been up for renewal last December, and I would have a lot longer to go until I could be rid of it!

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Not because the iPhone isn't awesome but because it would cause you financal strain. If I didn't have the extra cash from a freaky casino win, I wouldn't have bought it.

I have enough for the phone, actually, but I am supposed to be saving up money... That's the main dilemma. I work two jobs, so once the next checks come in, it would all be okay, but I promised a friend I would try and wait until Xmas rolls around. But I don't know if I have the willpower to wait! And in august I will be raking in some extra money for overtime when I have to go to this work convention in New Mexico... as you can see I am trying to both justify it in my head AND talk myself out of it!
