What does the OTHER data account for on the phone? There is video, audio, photos, apps, yet my other has more data then my video, photos and apps combined? What's in there?

Any data saved by your apps, email data, sms data, calender data ... etc

Yup, Safari history, SMS, calendar events, app data, email data, cache it can get quite large.

I've found that "Other" and "Apps" can and do often switch back and forth. They always seem to take up about the same amount of space combined, but sometimes I have a couple MB of apps and a gig of other, and vice versa. It's odd, but I wouldn't stress over it unless it's many gigabytes in size and you don't have that many apps installed.

I too have noticed that when I download an App or update one it will kick it into other. The next time I sync though, it will kick it back to apps and decrease the amount of other. As you say, unless it is a great amount there is no need to really worry about it.
