Does the iphone have an ip address via 3g? im sure if you use wifi the ip address changes to say the house ip that your home computer is using.

If not, does it give out any info about me? "about" info or whatever when i connect to certain sites?

I doubt the phone has an ip address via 3g.

actually, it does. It also has one for edge and wifi as well. Install bossprefs and you can access the ip.

Yeah, but say for unjail broken users, does the iphones IP match the houses IP when connected on wifi?

Is it the same for 3g?

Not sure what you mean by that, but it is assigned an IPv4 address via any connection method (GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wifi). Go to http://whatsmyip.net to see what it is.

Yes. My ip is diferent from wifi and edge and 3g. Three different ip addresses

Thanks dude, i was kinda worried because i read somewhere that iphone users are getting info leaked or hacked w/e when they get online near or at a starbucks etc.

Its not that, but i kinda thought the iphone was easy to get info from, when in public wifi places...you know like how certain people can see what your looking at, or doing when your laptop is connected to public wifi.

Basically any device that access the internet has an IP address.

I just wanted to add something here. If your iPhone is using your home wifi network, then it shares the same public IP address with your other devices. The devices behind your wifi router are NAT'd, i.e. some 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x address. The router has the address that the world can see.

It is, unless you are using a VPN or otherwise encrypted session.

Riight, but as stated before if you turn off the wifi on the iphone and use 3g you'll have a different separate IP.

Yes. If you use 3G you will have an ATT IP. If you are using wifi your IP will be based on the provider you are connecting through.
