Ok this is strange, ive had nothing go wrong with my iphone and now this happens. It wont charge...its been at say 40% for an hour, and when i disconnect the iphone from the charger same thing. I tried using a different plug, same thing....then i tried charging it from my computer and still 40% (the power bar hasnt moved at all.) All of this in the span of 3hours AMPLE time to charge.
Nothing like this has happened before i exchanged the USB plug at the apple store, but even so if it was the plug, then the phone woulda charged from my computer.
Has my battery already drained its half life?!
Someone help is there something i can do with the phone?? or will i have to take it to apple and hope that they dont give me a refurbished one. (they shouldnt b/c this is a hardware issue thus covered under warranty) but who knows.

Have you re-started the phone? Held home & power button together, let it turn off, let go of home button while still holding power button. When screen comes back on, let go of power button. It's like a physical turn off/on, not the soft reset by just pressing the power button and sliding to turn off.

Ok i did that, The phone says i have FULL battery. This should be correct since i tried charging all over the place for like 3hours.
Should i be worried what if the phone is "lying" to me (sounds crazy lol)

Are we talking the V1 or 3G? If it is the 3G I would do the hard reset as suggested, a restore if that doesn't work, and a trip to Apple if the restore doesn't work.
If you have the V1, it might very well be that the battery is going bad.

The phone now says 100%? It could be that when you had restarted it, the software restarted correctly and it could be correct. You said you had just charged it right, but it was still only showing 40%?
Monitor it for the rest of the day and see if the battery meter is running okay now. If not, then do a restore and see if that does anything?

If you charge your phone often, not allowing it to drain fully, it will eventually get confused and will represent your actual charge poorly.
At least once a month I try to drain my phone to the point it turns itself off (about the 7% mark... it will not let itself drain to levels that would be bad for the battery) then immediately plug it into the wall AC charger and let it charge fully. Then your battery indicator will be in sync with reality.

Well i charge my phone depending on use or when that final 10% warning comes up i charge.
I never "top up" the phone when its like 50%.
when i first got the phone, i used it untill the battery finally died...i mean like turned itself off dead... then i charged it. Doing this fully charges all the cells.
Every 5th of the month i use the phone untill dead recharging all the cells.
The thing im worried about is most batteries now adays charge to full in about an hour or hour 30min. Most people only charge the phone while they sleep...but having the phone just sitting there charging for those 8hours is bad?? Also i wish there was a way to stop it from charging from my computer when downloading/syncing etc on itunes b/c its like topping up.
Besides that, i think this all happened b/c i havent restarted the phone in like a month. Ill make a personal reminder to restart each week.

"Topping off" is not a problem with the iPhones. Nor is leaving it to charge overnight. The battery likes to be charged often, whenever you want. Draining it every charge cycle is actually worse for it overall, based on what I've heard. I charge every night no matter what level I'm at and top off in the car if I'm away for a while. I do that full discharge once a month or so, and my battery performs great and always shows a pretty accurate charge state.

OH!!!
Well if im understanding correctly then what im doing is fine?
I charge the phone everyday, or when the 10% comes up (youtube/or watching mobile anime will do that) But i do let it die every month to charge it from dead to full.
Thanks! i thought topping up was bad.
