This won't work. AppStore apps are restricted by fair-play DRM. I suggest you jailbreak your device and download iPhone Modem.

It makes me wonder if Apple will support DRM-Free Apps in the future. I do however doubt the possibility.

No way. Then people would just be trading "Mobile Application" folders willy nilly. They need DRM considering how exposed those application files are.
