Ah, the age old question of which phone is right for me.

Pretty simple, there is no right or wrong answer. It depends on what you intend to use it for. If you are a heavy corp email user that must have full exhange support then the bold is your choice. If you dont require that and you lean more to the multimedia side then its an iphone all the way.

Oh, and you also need to know if you can live with an onscreen keyboard or not. Truthfully, the Iphones keyboard works exceptionally well.

If you just want a phone that also acts as a multimedia outlet for internet, music, games and apps, then get the iPhone 3G. I would say if you need a phone that you can synch to Outlook, cut & paste and view Documents, get the blackberry. Windows Mobile/Crackberry is more tuned for the person who likes to work and play. I think it is a great device and very functional.

Personally, I like the simplicity of the iPhone 3G itself. There is a little more left to be desired with the iPhone right now (flash, MMS texting, cut & paste, electric razor, etc.) but they will add those on as they perfect them.

I had a BB Pearl. I liked it. I had a v1 iPhone and now I have 3G. I love the iPhone.

iPhone: Full color touch screen, email, games, video, music. No ugly buttons. Fun to use.

Well, you ARE asking this on the iPhone forum...hehe...

The honest truth is that once the Bold is out, go to the AT&T store, play with both, and see which fits your needs. That's all you can do.

I'm a former BlackBerry, Palm and Blackjack user, and I'm hooked on iPhone. Others hate it. I realize that's a non-answer, but the truth is nobody can truly answer it for you but you.

iPhone 3G no question. Superior browser & email rendering, better multimedia. The Bold just has reliable email & a good keyboard. Multitouch vs. Trackball? C'mon. HAHA!!:tounge:

The REAL question you should be asking is if you should get the Blackberry STORM or the iPhone 3G.

I'd still say iPhone but I think the Storm may be a better overall phone than the Bold.

I would definatey go with the iPhone. As time goes by I'm sure you will see more that is geared towards the business person if that's what you need. I finally upgraded to 3g and the salesman at att and they just worked a deal with some company for 150 iPhones. That shows it catching on. But nothing beats the os and webbrowser the iPhone packs.

The one big downfall of the Storm is no wi-fi access. I can't believe they forgot that! Don't the other BBs have wi-fi access?

I love both Blackberries and iPhones ... I think the Question was answered very well, another spin on this would be whether or not the user is primarily a mac or pc user? Blackberries play very nicely with PC's .. And IMO There is nothing better to compliment a mac than a iPhone. However, I do think both are incredible phones.

Having owned 3 1st generation iPhones and 2 3G phones, and now 1 Blackberry 8310, I would have to say go for the Bold. It's expected to be out with AT&T next Monday.

Let me see all the useful features that the BB has that the iPhone doesn't.

1. Each letter on the alphabet can have a speed dial number assigned.
2. MMS, not no work around by sending the photo or media as an email
3. Forward SMS and MMS
4. Forwards as
5. Delete individual calls from the call log
6. View complete call history to any number
7. Flashing LED flashes to indicate missed calls, new email, new MMS/SMS
8. Editable auto text
9. Create Address Book categories on phone
10. Create folders for photos on phone
11. Can move photos to any folder right on phone
12. Uses Micro SD cards
13. replaceable battery
14. Built in flash for camera
15. Reply to everyone a SMS/MMS or email was forwarded to you from
16. Calendar appointments display automatically on main screen
17. Missed caller info displays on main screen
18. SMS/MMS signatures

I can keep going but there are too many other things that it can do that I can't remember. I didn't miss any of the above when I was using the iPhones but after using the Blackberry, I see how usefull every feature really is.

If the Bold is set at an affordable price on Monday, I may ditch my last 3G phone and get the Bold as my second Blackberry phone.

Oh and Pocket Mac syncs just as well to a BB as iTunes does to a phone. It can add songs, photos and video as well as contacts, and ToDos/Tasks.

Oh and not all Blackberrys have WiFi access, my Curve does not. Certain models do. The Bold will have 3G.

Lack of Wifi access would be a deal-breaker for me.

I dont understand why, tbh.

It has the CDMA version of 3g. I guess if you're constantly showered in WiFi coverage, it could be a big deal, but you will save some serious battery life this way I would think.

My wife wants to switch to VZW because of my family being on VZW and hers being on Alltel (anyone know when/if the merger is finalized?) and we'll save some money. I plan on checking out the Storm.

???

I would venture to say that a Wifi connection (a good one at least) uses much less battery than an Edge/3G connection. The 3G antenna in particular is known to be a major drain on the battery. Combine that with CDMA network inefficiency (it's also well-known to be a battery killer) and I think you will see the Bold's battery going down faster than Paris Hilton.

No Wifi on a smartphone is definitely a deal-breaker for me as well.

The Bold has wifi, btw. It's the Storm that doesn't.

Anyway, with your logic, a Storm with WiFi with no signal would be the worst thing on Earth, right?

So back to what I said, isn't it fine not having WiFi on the phone unless you're constantly covered?

I still don't see why not having wifi is a deal breaker.

I agree with you 100%. as long as I'm in a 3g area wifi stays off. such a battery hog. I had a pre production bold which I just sold and I used wifi on it maybe twice. 3g speeds on it were excellent and I didn't see the need to turn on yet another radio when I have an unlimited data plan that does just the same even if it isn't *quite* as fast.

as far as the storm on VZW's excellent EVDO network, I would never use wi-fi unless I was out of the country and didn't want roaming data charges. and i'm out of the country once a year at most.

Bold is GSM not CDMA. I found the Bold battery life vastly superior to my iPhones by the way :tounge: And I was also holding a stronger 3g signal with it as well.

Edit: Nevermind

I might get the Storm. I like the Bold too. I just said this to meet the minimum length requirement while maybe adding to the discussion
