Greetings Forum Members,
I just downloaded a wonderful voice dialer application. Currently being offered for free. The name of the application is Say Who. The interface of this application is very crisp and clean. Say Who is very user friendly. No need to take your eyes off the road, hands off the steering wheel or flick through multiple contacts. With three taps of you finger, 1st Tap open application, 2nd Tap hold blue button and begin to speak, 3rd Tap select spoken contact to initiate call. Yes that simple folks. A must have for the first home screen of iPhone. So stop flicking through contacts and just, Say Who..,Mark

Wow, this App works great very accurate. Mark

P.S. I have no idea how the word "we" ended up in the thread title. I tried to change it to Dialer but it won't let me. My apologies. Mark

It seems great at first, but it requires a good 3g or WiFi connection to work, which means you get a network timeout if you run into an EDGE area.

Without it being reliable it's pretty useless, IMHO.

Nice Find!, just tried it out with a bunch of names and it works great. Just became the 5th app on my dock. Works perfect especially when you say the whole name such as "John Smith". They also have a free app called Say Where. I dl but have not tried it out yet.

Rip, not sure what your saying, Why would this app require 3g or data to do a voice dial? Isn't the program just finding the name and automating the # to dial?

Apparently this does the same thing as Voice Dial. It takes a snapshot of your contact names and uploads it to a server that matches voice to contact phonetically.
I've been using Voicedial for a while and it's very accurate. I'm going to try this to see if it's any faster/easier that Voice Dial.
So far though, with full signal strength, I keep getting network timeout errors

My favorite dailer app is called Vocalia. Only need to tap the icon then after you say the name the number. So two taps total, I love it. Also it doesn't need any setup or network connection.

I remember an app called Microsoft Voice Command for Windows Mobile. That was accurate and fast. It would also respond to commands like "Play Marilyn Manson Coma White" and the track would play.

I'd love to see it on the iPhone.

I contacted the developer about the network time out and it's a known issue.

Makes a good demo though, when it works.

Apple is developing something very similar. However according to this article (http://www.iphonehacks.com/2008/10/voice-recognitn.html), it would require new hardware which might rule out the current iPhones.

I have had no problems so far with this app, I love it because, my husband was flaunting his BB ability to voice dial and my iPhones lack of ability to do so. I soon found this app, so I had fun rubbing this one in. :)
