I get my share of emails from clients where there is a phone number in their signature or email body. Dumb iPhone gives no option to create a new contact or add number to existing contact. Just call or cancel. Seems like it should have that option. This very inconvenient as I have to memorize the number or jot it down, then go to contacts, blah blah blah. How annoying. Thanks for letting me vent.

Use the feature that says "Call" after you complete the call go to your recent calls list and add it from there..

or you could press "call" and then press "end call" quickly before it connects and it should show up under "recent", save from there

I usually do the process of hitting call and canceling it. From there I am able to add that number into my contacts with ease.

First let me say thanks for the workarounds.
Use the feature that says "Call" after you complete the call go to your recent calls list and add it from there..
Unfortunately I don't always want to call the person, just want to add the number to their contact.
The other workaround will of course work, but is ridiculous from a software point of view.
I wonder if it's all the same way in Safari?

I totally agree. This is one of the most frustrating things about the iPhone - I really wish it were "smarter" about phone numbers and emails and allowed an 'add to contact' or 'create new contact' link right away as well. The workarounds will do in a pinch, but I'd rather avoid dialing someone and risk not hanging up quickly enough for my caller ID to show up on their screen. Just another thing to submit feedback (http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html) to Apple on, I guess... :tounge:

I left the feedback, thanks for the link.

Most problems will be addressed in due time. Like how far we have gotten in a year.

Anyone up for a contextual menu?
Call, Add to Existing Contact, Add New Contact, Send SMS

I welcome any feature that makes my life easier. For example the feature that makes the phone vibrate when you don't answer new texts is pretty good, Cause Sometimes I look at the Text and forget to reply to it. But the phone reminds me. also Little by little i started apreciating copy and paste. When I use safari on my iMac I sometimes for get that the Mac HAS COpy Paste and I pull out the old Paper and pen to write down then copy. (iPhone you have gave me a bad habit)
