Has anyone else been having this problem?
I have my email setup to check every 15 minutes (during the day) and I have all 3 of my email accounts set to "delete from server when removed from inbox". This function use to work with prior versions before 2.1, if I can remember correctly. Now when the iphone checks for mail, it does not delete the items from my email servers. I have even tried to go into the deleted mail and delete all, then resync the iphone email (even the trash) and it still does not remove them from the server.
So for some time, I have been having to go into my Outlook and the messages pop up as new, and still there, and I have to delete them again on my desktop.
Any ideas?

Thanks Impaler, but unfortunately that does not apply to me. I do not use MobileMe. I have 2 email accounts at comcast and 1 email account for work. I use Microsoft Outlook 2007 to check all 3 accounts, when I am in the office. When out of the office, I have my Iphone set up to check every 15 minutes for new mail. I also have the settings set that if I delete it from the inbox, it gets deleted immediately from the server. That has been working, until about a month or so ago, right about when 2.1 was released.
I'm assuming you are not having the same issue. One thing I did not try what to do a full restore. It takes so long, but maybe i'll tr that tonight.
Thanks.

Point was that if you're deleting messages from an iPhone, the statuses might not show right away.

I have this same problem when using Thunderbird. I also along with mail not deleting get a bunch of old mail redownloaded to my phone. I have been trying to work this out for a couple of weeks now. I haven't really been hard pressed for a solution since I also use MobileMe. I will research this further later tonight. Mark

Impaler-Thanks, I understand, but it can be a whole day until I check messages on my computer, and then they are still there, so I'm thinking a software glitch.
Swagger-I have the same problem sometimes where emails I deleted from the Iphone get redownloaded the next time I check for email. That is probably a server issue since that only happens sparingly. Let me know if you find out anything else.
Thanks.

I'm thinking that the email service software is telling it to pull all new mail it hasn't pulled before. I don't think for some reason it sees that you have already read and deleted the mail. I try not to let anything beat me but I am stumped on this one. I emailed Mozilla about a fix for this. I got an email stating this is a known issue and they are working to correct it. I will let you know when I hear back from them. It may solve your problem with Outlook which (BTW) I also had until I stopped using Outlook...Mark

I might have thought it was the mail service software too, but it is happening on 2 different email providers. The only common item is the iphone. Please let me know if you hear anything back.
Thanks.

I don't have Mobile Me but i do have two e-mail accounts that i use and check frequently. I don't have or don't know where to look for the option to delete e-mails from server when i delete them on my phone. Where is this feature or am I not allowed to try to use it since i don't use Mobile Me?
I looked under Settings and e-mail and it wasn't there.
I often have to go back and forth deleting it was a real pain at first, but i got used to it. If there is a chance i can do it differently, i would love to.
Thanx for any help you all can give.

Adnurahs-Go to settings/mail, then select the email account, go to the bottom to Advanced, then you will see "Delete from server" and click when removed from inbox
I just tried something different and the deletion worked. I have been leaving my WIFI on all the time, even when driving in the car. I was just out for a few hours and turned WIFI off to try this. All the emails that I deleted from the Iphone did NOT show up again in my Outlook when I returned to the office. Maybe WIFI has something to do with it. I will try it again with the WIFI on and see what happens.
