Is there a way to shut off all data with the exception of wifi? My 3 year old daughter plays with the phone frequently and I would like to disable all data transmission with the exception of wifi. So, is there a way to somehow use airplane mode but have access to wifi? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks from Nashville.

Maybe try it without the simcard. I can't remember if that disables it or if just doesn't let you get into the phone at all. Worth a try though.

Yes, simply put it in airplane mode and turn on WiFi.

yeah, IIRC, the 2.x software has the ability built in to have wifi on with airplane mode also on.

This suggestion [airport mode with wifi on] also has an advantage for out of country travelers: still gives access to wifi (where and when available) while not incurring roaming charges. (This, in turn, begs the question whether Skype could be used the iPhone....that is for another thread.)
