I recently switched from windows mobile to the iphone. within windows mobile they used profiles for different sound settings. there's an automatic profile that automatically silences the phones sounds (calls, text, alerts, etc) to vibrate when a meeting or call is scheduled and listed as an event in the calendar. does the iphone have a feature? i know that i can manually silence the phone. I'm looking for a feature/software that automatically changes based on my schedule/calendar.
thanks in advance for your help.

That was a very simple but effective feature of Winmo that I truly miss. Especially since I work at a studio... I'd put all my sessions in the phone, that way I'd never forget and have my phone go off at an inopportune time.
Unfortunately, there is no way that I know of to do this on the iPhone. Apple doesn't allow "hooks" into the stock iPhone software (like the calendar), and I'm not aware of any alternative scheduling apps that ring alerts. Again, that's system-level stuff that Apple doesn't like. I don't even know of a jailbreak app that does it, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
So yeah.... sorry.... :(

i am surprised at the lack of adjustable options for stuff like this with the iphone. especially now that im taking an elective class at school "intro to mac". there is countless things to adjust on OS X leopard. i think they need to do that with the iphone too, make everything adjustable.
to the OP - im not sure if this is what you are looking for since i haven't tried this. but you can go into settings>sounds and there is a switch for calendar alerts on/off. i dont know if that will turn just the sound off or if it turns it all off. you will have to try it out.

That will just turn on/off the alert that happens 5 minutes (or whatever you set it to) before the event, if you have an alert set.
