The Apple Ultracompact USB Power Adapter Exchange Program was very easy but it is going to suck waiting three (3) weeks for a replacement. I did it on line and it was a breeze! Too bad Apple just can't get the 3g iPhone right, and this just in after the wonderful update to 2.1.
Anyone think this will eventually be a problem that caused damage to some iphones to date?

I'm not sure of the actual reason it was recalled but I'm sure that it could cause problems to phones, otherwise Apple wouldn't have worried about a recall.

The two prongs are relatively weak and could break off while trying to unplug it from the outlet. If that happened, you would end up with two "live" prongs sticking out of the wall. If you touched one (in an attempt to pull it out), you could get shocked.
Evidently, the new ones will be reinforced so that they don't break off so easily, and will have a small green dot on it to indicate that they are the newer generation adapters.
I'm going to walk into an Apple store on 10 October and exchange mine.

Ah yeah I remember reading that now. At least there shouldn't be much of a chance of damage to the phone. I still use my v1 charger and keep the 3G one in the box.

Can anyone here say that their prongs feel flimsy? I don't have a 3G, but I happen to have a charger for one (my buddy bought one here in Philly and left it here... he has other chargers, though). Those prongs feel sturdy as heck... can't imagine them breaking off.
Are there bad batches out there or what?
