Hi

When I started up the latest version of QuickPwn that I downloaded via torrent from the iPhone-dev-team's blog, I got a message saying the software is not meant to upgrade firmwares but to jailbreak them.

I already have a completely customized 2.0.2 jailbroken firmware running on my iPhone 3G. I just want to upgrade it to 2.1 without bricking my phone nor losing my themes, settings, passwords, etc.

What is the simplest way to do this?

Thank you,

Cheers,
Vyder

I want to know the same thing... and do you have to have itunes 8 or 7.7...

might need to move this thread to the modifications forum.

Sorry but you are going to have to restore the 2.1 and then re-jailbreak, your going to end up losing your themes and stuff.

I would suggest installing AptBackup from Cydia. Run a backup. Then Sync your phone. It will create a list of all the apps you have downloaded. *Note (If your themes were downloaded from Cydia, they will be back in Winterboard) After you jailbreak with quickpwn. Go to Cydia and reinstall AptBackup. Run it and it will install from the restored list.

If you had file sets from Customize, those will be lost. Because Customize is broken in 2.1.

As for your settings, passwords and app store apps. Those get backed up everytime you sync your phone. those will all go back on your phone when you restore after updating to 2.1.

It doesn't make a difference.
