Unlocking question

Ok, so my friend Chris bought a 3G. He handed over his old iPhone to another friend, Dan. He put his T-Mobile Sim card into it and it seemed to work fine. But how do I get it for iTunes to read the iPhone? It keeps throwing up a message saying that iTunes does not recognize the sim card.

Any suggestions?

You can only unlock the V1 iPhone. Although I didn't need to, I unlocked my iPhone using Pwnage. Once done, iTunes no longer cared whether I had a SIM card in or not.

This was with iTunes 7.7 and 1.1.4 firmware.

Hmmm, maybe I should downgrade my iTunes.

The friend that had it before used ziPhone
to jailbreak it.
