I have recenty received an iphone from a buddy who upgraded to the 3g. I'm not sure what version/model it is other than it is an 8 gig. It was activated with no SIM when I got it from him.
I have since downloaded itunes 8.0 and connected it and it went through the software update process. And now it needs to be activated again.
I do not want to activate it through AT&T as I don't want to get a data package. I have a regular phone plan through AT&T that I want to use and I also want to be able to use the WIFI browser.
I have researched as much as possible to identify how to make it work but I am totally confused. I beleive that I need to jailbreak/unlock the phone but I don't know what version software I have or where to begin. I am running Windows XP.
