Same with me--while on 3G, it sounds like the call is breaking up. I dunno how to fix it either!

I was noticing the same thing today. I found that when I went to speaker phone it no longer was broken up sounding.

the same thing happened to me. it was right after i downloaded the 2.1 software update, i dont know if that had anything to do with it or not. it seems to have just been a temporary problem though because i haven't been having any problems anymore. it was a pain though so hopefully it will only be temporary for you too

Same crackling-like dropouts here since 2.1.

The antenna may be more sensitive to any 3G signal now and show more bars, but it seems like the phone is using less power to connect to the towers...which may be why the battery life is actually better overall. Who knows?

i have the same problem, after downloading the 2.1 software hours after the release, certain times the calls are "fuzzy". But on speaker it is fine.

Very Strange?

I'm having the same issue. 3G reception goes in and out too. Ofcourse I get dropped calls when this happens also.

Same problem here, and, yes, I am in NYC.

Has Apple issued a statement about this? It's pretty damn frustrating to have the sound breakup like that during calls!

Same thing happened to me this weekend in Charleston, SC but it wasn't every call that it happened on. It only did it when I was in my hotel room (where I had a 5-bar signal) but not when I was outside or in a building on the AFB. maybe it was just the hotel that was causing the problem.
