Ok, so Im going to jailbreak tonight using the step by step provided by psylichon (thanks by the way). My questions are as follows;

Once jailbroken, are the apps already on the device as part of the new firmwear and you just select what you want? For instance, intelliscreen, is that already there or does it have to be purchased? Further, once purchased, is it farily self explanatory how to get it on your iphone? I am not a newbie with smartphones (bb and wm user in the past) but working with the iphone is totally new. I see references to ssh and all this stuff and i have no clue what it is. So will it be be fairly easy to get what I want on the phone? Also, is clydia a folder on your computer? Is it a web site? Is it on your phone as a folder containing the apps?

thanks in advance.

Typically, the apps that you install with Cydia (the installer app used to find and install other native apps after you jailbreak) are free but some have limited functionality unless you register or pay for them. Jailbreaking only puts the Cydia installer and a few other programs that it uses on your phone, it's up to you to add more apps by running Cydia and telling it what you want.

SSH is an app (OpenSSH, actually) that allows you to move files on and off the phone "manually". It's basically an FTP utility for the phone. You can install it after jailbreaking and then run an SSH program on your PC/Mac to transfer files. You don't need SSH unless you want to transfer files manually because Cydia will do all the work of installing applications. Note that these apps aren't the ones in the App store, they are the ones that independent developers have written and made available in Repositories that you can tell Cydia to use.

It will be easy to install things once you jailbreak and run Cydia

Can you still sync and install apps from the app store with a Jailbroken iPhone?

Yes, that's not a problem

Thanks!

I'll probably end up doing this soon then.
