2.1 Bricked iPhone...HELP PLEASE!

OK...hubby tried to upgrade his jailbroken 2.0.2 iphone to the 2.1 upgrade. It has locked up. I already reset it in DFU mode to see if that would fix it, but no luck. iTunes is saying that it has backed it up and everything, and iTunes recognizes it...so I am assuming that all is not lost. However, once the "apple" screen comes on with the spinning circle, we can't manage to get that spinning circle to go away. It stops spinning and just gets locked like that.

Any ideas what is wrong or how to fix it would be GREATLY appreciated!!!! Thank you!!!!

did you update to 8.0? if not, that could be part of the problem.

Yes, I had updated to 8.0 It's fixed now. After sitting in front of the computer for a while I realized that his phone was not liking Vista--it never has--so, now it's fixed. Thank you.
