Question about going back to iTunes 7.7

I have my phone jailbroken and heard that they released the jailbreak program for the touch today. I assume the 2.1 software for the phone will be pwned soon, but I heard that itunes 8 won't recognize custome firmware. I was wondering if I delete itunes 8 off my computer and download 7.7, will I lose any information once I sync it? Is this the right thing to do? Thanks

I updated to 8.0 and it works fine when syncing with my iphone 3G. Now I haven't JB it with 8.0 yet, so I can't comment on that. As for downgrading, I do believe you need to back up any info you want to save. I don't have the ipod touch so I don't know, but I would assume it's the same process.
