I need to remove the lyrics to a song and just leave the beat, does anybody here know how to do this?

It can be done in audacity. Although it's not a "remove lyrics" button, it's done manually.

Sorry, I snoozed on this one.

Removing vocals is an inexact science. When you're working with a stereo mix (i.e. an MP3 or CD rip), all you can really do is phase tricks to remove the vocal. There is a process called "A-B monitoring" that will essentially remove anything panned directly up the middle (which usually includes the vocal). The problem is it also removes other important things usually panned up the middle, like the kick, snare, and bass. That plus the fact that vocals often have stereo delays and reverb processing that doesn't cancel out, and you're often left with a swimmy mess of a song with creepy space vocals still there.

Let me know what track in particular you want to do this to, and I'll let you know how feasible it is.

Dont worry about it Dave , I wanted to try these two.

One-Metallica
She Can Get It- DJ Laz

I think One would be much easier.

I've never done it (because I use audio editing software for this), but supposedly you can do this through iTunes alone.

Get info on the track in iTunes and go to the "Options" tab. There you can set start and end times. Then if you rightclick and "Create MP3 version" (MP3 must be set as your encoder in importing options in preferences), the MP3 iTunes creates should honor the start and stop times you defined.

Make sense?
