Hi there, i have an unlocked 1st gen. iphone running on 1.1.3 firmware, ive had my phone for about 5 months, had all my info sync'ed to my computer, but about a week ago had my computer reformatted, evereything is gone, How do i go about keeping my stuff on my iphone, yet be able to sync it up with my computer still? Do i just install itunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/) again and plug in the iphone?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks

Welcome to EIC!
Photos, contacts, and apps will sync both ways so that's not an issue. Your phone, however, will sync with the blank iTunes on your newly formatted hard drive. I would suggest looking for a program that will allow you to rip your music off your phone so that you can put it back into iTunes. I don't know of any programs off the top of my head but I'm sure you could do a google search and find something...or wait for someone else to chime in :)

iPhone PC Suite should help you out with what you're looking to do.
(assuming you're on a PC)

Sorry for the late response. That particular error refers to .net framworks. You might need to install Microsoft .NET Framwork 2.0. That should fix the problem. 0xc0000135 error is specific to that.

ok thanks that part helped.... but:
i have a few problems: I tried to add some songs to my iphone, and it synced and fineshed correctly, i ejected the iphone and when i went to look for my songs there werent any!! and when i connect my iphone to the computer it shows 11.38 GB of space taken up in "other".. 11.38 GB is around how much space of music that i had added..
so then i tried using the PC suite(after downloading the link from above) and i got this message:
"your iphone was unlocked by Ziphone, you need to install a patch, heres how to do it"
1.) enter; "i.unlock.no" to sources in Installer
2.) Find and install "Ziphone ibrickr fix" in unlocking tools of install in installer
3.) Restart Iphone
"Iphone Pc Suite cannot be used until patch is installed"
----
the problem with that, is i try to open the installer app on my iphone and it dosent fully load the app and then closes.. i cannot access the installer app!!
i appreciate your help in advance..

If you sync'd your iPhone to iTunes after formatting your hard drive, wasn't iTunes content wiped out also??? If so and you sync'd to iTunes with no content in iTunes. You basically told iTunes to completely erase your iPhone. I hope you saved your content to some other form of media, before formatting your harddrive, if not, you are screwded. You can dowload the songs you purchased from iTunes (given you haven't downloaded 4 times yet). Any other content you had that was not backed up is gone. And now that you erased your phone also, you can't even use it to put your content back in iTunes. I feel bad for you, please tell me you backed up your content before you formatted...Mark
Update: You can't redownload your purchased iTunes content. You get one download and are able to back it up four times, not download four times. Sorry for the misinformation...Mark

I still have all my multimedia files, those were backed up and put back on my computer after it was refornatted.
i tried to use the pc suite, then it gave me the initial 03x error..
so then i tried to just add songs to the iphone, and thats when it happened last night:
on my iphone, when i open the ipod it says: " no music"
altough, on my itunes on the computer when my iphone is connected, it shows that my iphone has 11 GB of "other" space on my i phone.. (11gb is the amout of songs i tried to add yesterday)
so for somereason its on the iphone, but not reading it correctly or something... all the audio files are on the computer, so this morning i tryed syncing the music, but it says " you are trying to add 11gb of music, you only have 3gb available"

I don't know what to tell you from this point. I'm not trying to be an a** but this is what sometimes happens, when you install renegade software on your phone. You may have to restore and unlock again. Ask the guys in the Mod section, they could probably be more of a help to you...Mark

I did a bit of searching and found some users having similar issues with their phones and iPhone PC Suite. It's a possibility your problem has to do with the way Ziphone is used to jailbreak. Ziphone is an evil lil jailbreak tool. There are lots of threads that will tell you how it's messed with people's phones. It rewrites code and can cause permanent damage.
I couldn't find anything close to what happened with your phone. Alot of it was iTunes wouldn't recognize the iphone being connected after the fix was installed. Like Swagger said, "I don't know what to tell you at this point" :embarrassed:
I'll keep looking to see if i can find anything else.

When you sync your phone. It automatically makes a back up. So when you restore, you can put it all back on. Only thing is any apps you have will be lost and need to be reloaded. It's that way with any restore.

Man, its a great thing im computer litterate. thanks to those who replied as well..
I figured out what happened..
For anyone in the future.. if you sync any media to your Iphone, and it does not show up in the ipod section, and yet your itunes shows used up "other" memory heres what happens(what happened to me)
it got stored under: var/mobile/media/itunes_control/music...
now there were about 50 folders, each containing music files, must have been corrupted or something of that matter... anyways when your at this point, delete each folder they will be named (00, 01, etc), and then re-sync your music through Itunes.. thats what i did and it worked great!
also, your going to need a iphone browser.. the program i used thanks to one of the guys who helped me out is Iphone PC Suite..
now heres where another problem can occour.. you open it up(pc suite) and, it says you need to update a patch through the installer app.. Well if you have the same problem as i did, it kept
oppenning and closing(installer app).. if this occours do this:
open installer, then from a seperate phone, call your cell emediatly, as soon as your cell phone rings, hang up(not from ur cell) then your installer app will open correctly, and you will be able to do what you need to do from your installer app..
now let me mention that my Iphone is 1st gen, and is running on firmware 1.1.3 and was unlocked with Ziphone.. so if your in the same situation, hope this information is helpful...
thanks to everyone who helped out once again!!
