Is it me or is anyone else experiencing a very warm or hotter than normal iphone after a long phone call? Like the phone gets really hot while against your cheek as does the back of the phone when on convo's that are longer than say 30min.

when I talk that long, I'd use the headset!

I too noticed this.
But since the 3G has a plastic back, I'm a little bit concerned of how well the plastic can hold up with the heat. I hope this won't be an issue in the future.

Very hot, when syncing.
well not very hot that its going to melt, hot enough to feel and hot enough to transfer enough to the desk.

mine gets hot too--its not the heat that worries me, I have a silicon case on it...and the heat being encased and held to the phone via the case is what scares me.

I was just about to say this...I have a leather case-mate case on my 3G, and i was on the phone for roughly 2 hours the other day (no headset) and I could feel the heat coming through the case-mate.
I was worried about the case holding in the heat and making the phone over-heat...any substance to this suspicion?

I use the slider case and I always remove it from the case when charging the phone.

same problem here. I removed my leather case. I have even experienced this while using headset. Apple store says it can run particularly hot when battery is below 50% .... I laughed and asked him to guess how often he thought my iPhone's battery ACTUALLY WAS above 50. He also laughed. LOL

My phone also gets a tad hot when using it on the commute into London. (I'm using the ipod and 3g to surf the net)
I don't think its anything to worry about as all electrical equipment heats up a bit.

The back of the phone isn't plastic, its a ceramic mix. And i think ceramic is a good heat insulator. Which could work for good and bad.
