Hi there,
I noticed the other day when my speakers were playing iTunes music, that about 90% of the sound comes out of the LEFT speaker. The right speaker is nearly silent.
Is this the case for everyone, or is one of my speakers screwed?
Thanks,

Just to let you know, there is only ONE speaker. And it seems to be working fine.
The other thing that looks like a speaker is the microphone.

I don't know any built in software, but there are several apps that do that for $3. i use the Audio Recorder. Works well, I email myself messages so I don't need to write notes.

What application is that?
A friend came over today and I jailbroke his iPhone for him. So he could get access to recording software etc. We jailbroke without any issues.
Then we tried mine, and the software crashed and caused my phone to totally hang. So I had to do go into DFU and totally restore my phone. Didn't bother to try again after that!! Bloody typical!!
That would be the free voice recorder in the AppStore.

I have voice notes, it's free and there is now a way to sync your voice notes but I don't use that feature.

My question is why didn't Apple put two speakers on the iPhone?

You think with it being an iPod too, it would have two speakers - :P

Two speakers = more weight, more power draw, and more space in an already intensely tetris-ized interior to give a minimal stereo effect (1" apart really isn't a proper spread).... just doesn't seem worth it to me. The iPhone is meant to be used with headphones when listening to music. You don't really need stereo ringtones or speakerphone.

You would indeed but if it weren't for the fact it's a phone it wouldn't have a speaker at all. Anyway I fine this works a treat

Besides the touch, which ipod has a speaker? The iPod Touch only has one speaker as well, am I right?

The touch has only a notification speaker for emails or clicks while typing. It doesnt have a proper speaker as such. The iPhone is the only 'iPod that has a speaker allbeit only 1.

They should have put another speaker up by the headphone jack. There's enough room. Then it would be real stereo. Probably on the next version...

So does it come out of the other "speaker" the other 10% of the time? and since its "nearly silent" does that mean sometimes sound comes from there?
Sorry couldnt resist..

Right. And it'll have 7 cameras on there, so we can video chat and see 7 angles.
