I'm a huge Bucs fan. After the Bucs, I really enjoy Dallas. I'm a HUGE T.O. fan. Hopefully the Bucs can beat the pattern of winning the division then ending up in last or 3rd place in the division in the following year.

Anyone else into NFL football?

Our schedule is already whack as it is with the London "home game"... and we've got a six week stretch during that time between home games.

I'm hopeful the home opener will be played Sunday in the dome.

We'll see. Garcia didn't play preseason, nor Galloway - and the NFC South Champ has sunken to the bottom the following year. No one has repeated. Well, I have my 99 Red Sapp Jersey ready, and my Authentic T.O. Throwback ready to go for Friday and Monday at work. :)

lol - I was being negative. Look at LT. The guy's golden. But he has 14 career carries in the preseason. He usually starts "clicking" around the 3rd or 4th week into season.

Garcia and Galloway are elderly now, but they should have played some preseason. They aren't the type of players that can "flip a switch", evidenced by the playoffs last year....

nah I actually like McNabb. I won't post that pic.

I do think the Eagles get beat at Texas Stadium, probably close to the same fashion the Cowboys dismantled Cleveland in the Dawg Pound.

However, I think Philly hands Dallas the 2nd of their losses on the way to a 14-2 season when they play in Philly in December. Both Cowboys losses will be in PA, the other being at Pittsburgh.

A team that I was really impressed with and is very strong on both sides of the ball is the Steelers. Big Ben is as accurate as it gets, Willie Parker is still underrated, Hines Ward/Santonio Holmes are a great WR tandem, and their defense is always strong.

With Brady out for the year, very uninspiring games on behalf of the Colts and Chargers, I'm now thinking another Dallas/Pittsburgh Super Bowl.

Tex
09-08-2008, 11:30 AM
You really underestimate this strong Eagles team, thinking the Eagles will lose to Dallas in a similar fashion that you saw in Cleveland yesterday. The Eagles D is one of the best in the league. They are going to match up against the Dallas WRs very well, and are going to get a ton of pressure on Romo. We have one of the best pass rushing Defenses in the league, and a pretty damn STOUT run defense too (i.e. Steven Jackson was held to 4o total yards. He isn't a slouch). I think you are gravely wrong if you expect a blow out at Texas Stadium. It's going to be a close, hard fought game IMO.

I agree, I have a feeling that Dallas and Philly might split Ws this year, but I am not going to hope for less than a W both times. It's going to be a fun year, I think. IF (and its a big IF) McNabb stays healthy, we are going to be flying high into the post season.

I am oddly happy to know that Brady is out....I never like a guy to get injured, but I personally think the Brady and the Pats were really full of themselves last year. I hope he recovers to 100% for next year. (Eagles fans know the pains associated with QB injuries...especially ACL tears).

aggieman
09-08-2008, 11:56 AM
I'm thinking a 14 point win. It won't be quite as easy, but Cleveland is a pretty darn good team and the Cowboys made them look silly. I think the Eagles are better than Cleveland, especially on defense, but if the Cowboys are clicking there isn't anybody that's going to be able to stop them. They are just that loaded on offense. Defensively if they are healthy they could be the top unit in the NFL as well.

That said, no disrespect meant to the Eagles. If one team in the NFC challenges the Cowboys this year, it will be the Eagles for sure. I wouldn't get too psyched up about stopping Steven Jackson though. He held out of all of training camp. He was getting his first action since last year. We will see how they do against the Barbarian and Felix.

Chicago is another team to watch out for. Looks like they found themselves a nice young running back. Orton played decently at QB, and their defense looked as dominant as they ever have. I'm still not sure if Indy was just that bad though or if Chicago was that good. Indy looked pretty pathetic.

I honestly hope Brady can recover. I'm tired of seeing the Patriots win. I'd hate to see them have an excuse to lose now. I do like Brady, but I'm tired of the Patriots/Red Sox/Celtics ****iness coming out of the Northeast. You always wanna beat a team when they are at their best, and if they do miss the playoffs or somehow make the Super Bowl again, whoever does beat them should want to do it with them at full strength.

BTW, did anybody see that performance by Michael Turner yesterday? I always knew he was good but was not gonna play much behind LT in SD, but wow, just wow. He may just be the leading rusher this year.

MileHighRob

All ears here waiting for the smack Ramesh. LOL

Anyway, it was an exciting game. I'm hoarse now from screaming my lungs out. The Dome was louder than when we took the Eagles out of the playoffs in '06.

I really expected a close game. Afterall, 14 of the last 17 games between these two teams were settled by 7 points or less. However, I didn't expect the Bucs to have an opportunity to take the win driving in the final seconds of the fourth quarter though. Carolina beat us last year in the final seconds at home and I was experiencing a bit of deja vu there for a minute... It was pretty unnverving.

The NFC South looks pretty tough again this year. Freakin' Michael Turner put up over 200 yds on the ground yesterday for Atlanta. I also don't know of many people that predicted the Panthers to take that one from the Chargers. Should be an interesting season for sure!

It doesn't matter, neither Bush or VY are near as good in the NFL as they were in college. Bush never should have been drafted as high as he was. He has flashes of brilliance but he is never gonna be a star as an every down back. If he was on my team I'd move him to WR. At least VY has the excuse of Tenn not ever giving him any receivers to work with. What's up with that anyways? Do they have something against drafting a receiver? They could have had VY's buddy Limas Sweed in the draft.

MileHighRob

I don't think Payton's going to even attempt to use him as anything that even remotely resembles an every down back this season. He had 163 all purpose yards yesterday and, you guessed it, the majority (112) was receiving. With all the offensive weapons that Brees has to choose from, if Bush puts up numbers anywhere close to his rookie year I'll be pleased. When the defense has to account for Colston, Patten, Shockey, Henderson, Meachem and whomever else Payton decides to throw into the mix I'm confident Reggie's gonna get his numbers this year. And I don't expect 'em to come from up the gut either.

I agree with Jason (and you to some degree). Bush is not as good as he thinks he is. He still hasn't figured the outside run doesn't work all the time, or very often in the NFL. He still bounces all around looking for the hole.

True... and he scored the winning TD yesterday sending the Bucs back to TB with a big L!

Whether he's being used an everydown back or a decoy, he's very valuable to this offense. He's going to give DCs headaches again this year trying to game plan against him and the crazy formations in which Payton will use him.

Tex
09-08-2008, 06:13 PM
Reggie has never been an up the middle back. That isn't his skill set. He is an back that was always utilized in the passing game, and for runs on the outside. That is where his successes came at USC. Joining the ranks of the NFL, he had to bulk up since college.....taking away some of his trademark "elusivness". He is still an elusive back in terms of NFL RBs, but the NFL regulates him to a much less important role compared to how he was used in college, but still important overall as defenses need to account for where he is on the field at all times. That alone is an important asset.

Tex

The holes don't come as easy in the NFL, either. He certainly has learned that. N.O.'s O-Line is that great, are they (I am asking)?

Bush was a tandem back in college (LenDale White was their up the middle back).

Bush still can provide the lightening. High expectations seemed to cause some grumbling, but overall, he has been steady enough to warrant respect. He can only improve. If used right, he could be as good as Westbrook.

Good at Pass protection....how about run blocking? I mean, Deuce does alright for himself (when he plays healthy), so I imagine that have a decent O-line to open holes.

Ramesh

The holes don't come as easy in the NFL, either. He certainly has learned that. N.O.'s O-Line is that great, are they (I am asking)?

Bush was a tandem back in college (LenDale White was their up the middle back).

Bush still can provide the lightening. High expectations seemed to cause some grumbling, but overall, he has been steady enough to warrant respect. He can only improve. If used right, he could be as good as Westbrook.

Personally, I don't think he'll ever be as good as Westbrook. Westbrook is a great hybrid back. Bush has no power to pound guys. He's 100% finesse - which is fine and will work for NO when used properly. My overall feeling is that he was drafted WAY too high for his skill sets - but I guess that could be said for many.

Watching him strongarm a dude twice his size into the turf on an opening run yesterday was a thing of beauty. B-West is da man.

The Raiders looked crappy again. Great tandem in RBs they have, though. McFadden is going to be a BEAST in the NFL (just like Peterson is becoming a BEAST). Russell looked horrible...didn't throw a pick, which is good.

Jay Cutler looked awesome for the Broncos. Their rookie WR was NAILS as well. I am picking him up in both my FF leagues today, for sure.

Aaron Rodgers looked solid for GB last night. He will fit in just fine at GB. Tavaris Jackson looked not so good, but was very mobile last night. He had the good presence to get the yards they needed when they need them. But, he didn't really air out the ball much. AD AP looked amazing, and while I used to hate the guy as a Sooner, he is an amazing guy on the field.

MileHighRob

Shanahan is really opening up the play book for the Broncos' O this season. I don't expect them to even try to get the yardage on the ground. Cutler to Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, Brandon Stokley or Tony Sheffler is going to give some defenses fits this year.

Jamarcus Russell is, well, Jamarcus Russell. I was actually hoping he was going to show something last night. I agree McFadden is eventually going to be a beast but I don't expect him to have anything near the rookie season that Peterson had last year.

yes I agree I have been dogging Crayton hard on the various Cowboys blogs since that game. 2 sure TD passes dropped. People can call Romo a choke artist all they want, but Romo did what he had to in that game. Crayton was the choke artist there. Now the Seattle game the year before, yeah, all Romo.

However, Crayton has tons of potential. He really impressed me against Cleveland. Still, instead of trading him for a bag of peanuts, I'll only move up to trading him for one of those $7 16oz plastic Miller Lite bottles at Texas Stadium.

by the way, why is a Saints fan calling the Cowboys cowgirls? They are still the 'Aints. When was the last time they were relevant? Oh yeah! Never! One good season in the last 20 years does not make them anything. I think they are more like last years team than the one that made the playoffs and rode the emotions of Katrina the year before. Yes a great story, but they are an average team when matched up against the Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, or Bears.

Agreed they plucked a great coach from the Cowboys staff but they haven't done anything and they will falter again this year in a way that would make the Jeff Blake/Aaron Brooks teams of the past proud.

Tell me one thing... When the last time the Cowboys beat the Saints???

Go look that one up for yourself because you obviously don't know the Saints have owned the Cowboys too!!!

Do I need to remind you of the last 42-17 spanking we handed you on the road on nat'l television the last time we met?

we don't play them every year, and I recall being at a game that we beat them in, I don't remember when it was. The Cowboys sucked from 98-05 I'll give you that. I wouldn't gloat too much about beating the Cowboys in those years. It's kind of like our baseball team. The Rangers suck and they have owned Seattle for the past two years. Who cares, when a bad team beats a bad team, does it matter who owns who? The win in 06 was a great story indeed. That team rode an emotional wave and everyone in America was pulling for them. It was one game. Just like the Bears whipping of Indy last night. Everyone knows the Bears are not better than Indy. The Cowboys were not all that strong on defense then and Romo was just getting his feet wet as a starter. It was T.O's first season and we were still sticking with Julius Jones for whatever reason. This Cowboys teams is drastically improved while the Saints are for the most part the same team. Brees is awesome, Colston/Henderson/Bush are very talented, and the defense is decent. It doesn't change the fact that the Saints have really done nothing. they have a decent team this year but they are not even close to Dallas, Philly or the Giants. They also don't have 5 Lombardi trophies.

MileHighRob

I've completely washed 98-2004 from my memory. My high school could have beat the 88 and 89 teams Dallas fielded. The same as during the Quincy Carter era. The win in 06 was over a quality Dallas squad and you can't take that away from the Saints.

BTW, Colston is out 4-6 weeks. just read on ESPN. That sucks.

MileHighRob

Yeah Copper is solid. He's made some clutch catches over the past couple seasons.

I think we'll see a lot more of Patten, Henderson, Moore and Meachem and some 2-3 TE sets. It looks like the Shockey acquisition just became a lot more valuable especially in the red zone.

Ramesh
09-10-2008, 10:19 PM
Henderson is freakin' quick. I keep waiting for him to mature as a receiver. When he does, he'll be even more dangerous.

Giants thing - yes, they beat our teams. I get that. My point is they are overrated. They don't have a very explosive team, and they weren't dominant at all. I feel cheated having the Giants win. Don't get me wrong though, I'm glad they won and not the stupid Patriots.

I think you'll be alright at RB with if the Jones brothers keep playing the way they are. Interesting stat lines for the season for them both:

Julius: 172 yds rushing, 1 TD
Thomas: 171 yds rushing, 1TD

My team may turn out to be alright even though I missed the draft. I've kinda put together a rag tag team out of waiver pickups but it seems to be coming together. I'd still like another option at QB however as Palmer seems to have gone to crap and I don't think Warner will stay healthy the whole season, but while he is healthy he should put up good numbers with Boldin and Fitzgerald to throw to.

This is going to be a game that is talked about all season. Philly and Dallas each made their claims that they are the 2 best offesnive teams out there. Both defenses are typically stout, b ut last night was an offensive showcase of the 2 best teams the the NFC, and most likely the NFL. This should make for an interesting rematch in Philly the last game of the season. I hope it is dumping snow, and -5 degrees.

Rookie. I can guarentee he is never going to celebrate ever again this season..Andy Reid and the team won't have it from a Rookie after that.

The one knock on DeSean is that he can be full of himself. Mix that with inexperience, and you get boneheaded plays.

Refs made the right call....it basically acted as "spiking the ball". We got lucky, but I guarantee you everyone in Philly was cursing his name after that....but the dude is WICKED talented, and is by far one of the best draft picks we have had on offense in a while. 2 stragiht weeks of 100+ yards by a rookie WR.....never happened before. That shows he has a very birght future in the NFL.

Cowboys fans, don't forget Leon Letts early celebration pre-TD in thw 93 Super Bowl......stupid things like that have happened before. You can only pray that it doesn't ever happen again....I know DeSean got a smack of reality after that.

But, Eagles got a TD next play (WESTY!!!!!!).

Eagles still one of the best on the field....last nights game proved that for BOTH teams. To close to call. Let the rest of the season play out. I see both teams heading into final game with 2-3 losses max. It will make for one hell of a shoutout in Phillly in late December.

Agreed. We shall see how this plays out from here. Everything so far points to a very productive season. OUr next loss could come to Pittsburg next week (they are a very good team as well). After that, it could be cruise control if the team is healthy. Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis should be ready to play in the next 2 weeks. That should add a lot more weapons to our potent offense (Rookie Jackson can not carry this team....great start to his career, but Curtis and Brown are the support we need to complete the WR package....they aren't the best in the league, but they are the other 2 top weapons none-the-less for D-Mac to utilize).

hard pill to swallow when a close game like that comes down to the first major mistake made by your team in the 4th Qtr.....But, like I said, there are a ton of positives that come out of that game, and like D-Mac said, they can only take this as a tool to learn from your mistakes, and improve upon them. That is good news. Both Defenses will improve throughout the year. The next match up in December will not be as much of a shootout, but looks like should be another great matchup.

I love the Fall. ;)

The only thing I'm gonna say is........Eagles won T.O.P., turnovers, and penalties/yardage. Tony Romo tried his hardest to give the Eagles the game in the first half. The cowboys also got lucky on several occassions - 2 missed Face Mask calls by a cowboy defender on Westbrook, and a late hit out of bounds that was not called. It went BOTH ways last night.

In the end, you can not say one team deserved more than the other to win. It came down to who made the last mistake....Probability was on the Eagles side until the mishandled handoff to Westy.

I respectfully disagree, yes the facemasks happened, NO they don't automatically put you at the 1-yard line changing the flow of the game dramatically. Cowboys were up 14 - 6, and without the BS interference call it's 14 - 9, Cowboys still rolling. Instead, Eagles gained the momentum.

Don't compare facemasks to free touchdowns...

Dude you have no clue as you obviously didn't watch either loss the Saints' have taken over the last two weeks.

We gave up a 9 point lead in the 4th quarter to the Skins and beat ourselves here in Denver this past weekend.

Gramatica missed 2 field goals, we didn't convert a two-point after td AND we were stuffed on a 4th and goal... if my math serves me right there's at least 10 points that we failed to capitalize on this past Sunday. We put up over 500 yards offense dude. Denver didn't beat us, we beat ourselves.

But think what you may... before long you'll be cheering for your "second favorite" team (which is a joke, btw) because the Bucs will get implode before long.

It's the NFL bud... it takes talent, some luck and the ability to avoid injuries to be truly successful. It won't happen with just one of those three key elements in play.

There's a couple 3-0 teams that should be 1-2 right now and a few 1-2 teams that could be 3-0.

Fortunately we're not 0-3 like we were last year at this time and we've got four winnable games coming up.

And yes, the league is certainly taking notice of Reggie this year!

hey Gramatica was pretty good a couple seasons ago for the Cowboys. I think he's a pretty good kicker, just a head case like most other kickers.

It's all mental with most of those guys. Just look at Vanderjagt. He went from being one of the top kickers to being out of football in less than 3 games.

Just a shout out for the Bucs - 3 and 1. Great start so far. Griese's gotta stop handing the ball over though...

Starter - for now. Knowing Gruden, that could change at any time.

Congrats Phil on another incredible 'Phins win today. That's both teams from last years' AFC Championship game that have fallen prey to Miami this year... something to be mighty proud of my friend!

Been a Dolphin fan since 1971 and still have my jacket from the undefeated 1972 season.....Last year was simply terrible and was hard to even wear a dolphins hat in public....

Back to back wins.......been a couple years since we had that so yes...its a huge milestone,LOL

he's an idiot, but I hope he doesn't get suspended. the cowboys have said "there will be no disciplinary action taken by the team" but the NFL is conducting an investigation. there were no charges filed and no arrests so this will probably blow over soon enough. he is an idiot though....

I know if I am his bodyguard, I am not happy about my client blindsiding me at the pee-pee recepticle. I am thinking if he is inebriated enough to have lost his ability to use proper judgment, I probably stand a shot at kickin his butt! Believe me, "pac-man" could use 25 good "attitude adjustments"

I know if I was in the NFL main offices or the Cowboys team offices I would have to do something. If I was an NFL representative I would want him removed from the league permanently. He has had too many incidents. You are an employee of the NFL and lucky enough to make big NFL bucks, grow up and act like someone with common sense. I don't put my job in jeopardy like that and I make piss compared to what he makes. The Cowboys should look to suspend him (so it looks as if they are concerned about their reputation), and hope the NFL does not decide to take the proper action (which would be a permanent release of employment!!)

You make good points, but it was just a little scuffle. I've been in a few heated, alcohol induced arguments or "scuffles" before and not lost my job over it. Hell, in training camp Flozell Adams ripped a players helmet off and started swinging at people and we all laughed and thought it was cute. It's being overblown because of who he is, but yes, he should know that is going to happen by now and use better judgement in those situations. Supposedly it started as "horseplay" that crossed the line, so the body guard should've known better too.

The first reports made it out that he punched the guy in the back of the head while he was takin' a piss, they scuffled and broke a mirror. It would not be surprising to me to find out that the initial reports were exagerated and "hyped up". The most recent reports make it out to be that they were "playing around" and broke a little onamental trinket. I have no doubts that Jerry Jones has had the "facts" doctored to make it look like it was an inncocent occurance, so his player and his team can avoid a penalty. Nobody except for the involved parties knows what exactly happpened, and I am sure what actually happened will never be known. Jerry Jones has swept the incident under his million dollar rug and will stand on it until everyone loses interest. What we do know for sure is that "pac-man" has a bad track record. It is very possible that it was an inncocent horseplay incident, but it is also possible that the original report was true and it got swept under the rug.

One thing is for certain. The people in the Titans organization are happy to be rid of him!!! LOL

hahaha, this isn't the first time Jerry has had to do that, police reports always seem to change when they have to do with the cowboys LOL!!!

that's why I love him though, dedicated to winning!!!
