When I received my phone from the seller the phone was sealed,

I dont know if my phone is jailborken or anything like that.

I dont see any installer icon on home screen. In setting->general->about I see

Version: 2.0.1 (5B108)
Modem Firmware 01.48.02

I dont know which number to check. Please help I am very new this iphone things. Sorry if post this at wrong place. Basically I want to know what to do next. Is it safe or some good safe, tried and tested software to unlock this phone. Please help. Thanks in advance

your phone is not jailbroken. You have an AT&T account so your card "halfway" works. You'll have to go down there and get another special iPhone sim card and add the data plan to your bill or you'll get some super super high charges on your next bill.
It's running the 2.0.1 firmware. You could easily jailbrake and/or unlock it if you wanted

Why will I get a super high charge ? I dont have a Inet connection on my plan. I just have a voice plan from AT&T. I use internet connection only via WiFi.

Hmm Just Wandering But I have A 8gb 3G and I want To jailbreak it to do more customizing. Can I do That While Running an AT&T sim card and how does it alter your phone compared to the original software. Right Now Im using Version 2.0.2 and New to the Jailbreaking so Im Not sure What the steps, risks, pros , or cons about it. Hoping to get some Help and get these questions answered so I can make a choice and start getting more from my Phone.

Sorry to say but this site does not seem to give any help. Well I did jailbreak and got a lot of information from tysiphonehelp.com

Follow his steps use quickpwn and you can easily jailbreak your phone in few minutes.

well jailbreaking your phone is fine.... and yes you can do that while running a at&t sim card... the pros are you can customize your phone... have apps that the appstore aren't allowed... some people say that it slows down your phone which it does sometimes.. i found it buggy sometimes so i just gave up and restored to normal 2.1 firmware... and i plan on rejailbreaking over the weekend because i miss theming...

My DH purchased an iPhone 3G from other than Apple, AT&T, BestBuy, etc. and took the sim card out of his Razor that had the data plan with AT&T and popped it into the iPhone 3G and he was off and running. He ran iTunes with no problems. He freely moves his sim card between his iPhone 3G and Razor.
