Best. App. Ever.
I just had to express my love for Netshare. I'm on the train and posting from my MacBook thanks to Netshare. If Apple ever disables this app, I will march right over to HQ in Cupertino and egg Steve's Mercedes into oblivion.

You guys and gals that got this app are truly blessed. I sure wish I had jumped on it when I had the chance because I doubt that it will ever come back.
IMHO Apple won't disable this. Although there are probably thousands of copies out there, it is small potatoes compared to what could have been.

Nope, it's no longer available in the App Store. I got lucky and happened to be online when it became available the 2nd time for a little while and hopped on it like a stripper on a pole covered in cash.
Steve drives a Mercedes?
He does - it's one of the high-end AMG models (a CL500, I think) in silver. And he has no plates on it since they keep getting stolen, by rabid fans presumably, and only has a barcode in its place that can be scanned by the police/DMV. And he often parks in a handicapped spot in the lot outside, never in the underground parking garage, which is where you'd expect he'd park.

Nope, just observant. ;) And probably far too interested in Apple urban legends than I need to be.

I would be very, very, very, very surprised to see this app again. I had the chance to get it and let it slip away.
I scooped it up the 2nd time it popped up in the app store. I have used it a couple times and it is truly a fantastic app. It is a shame they pulled it, cause I am sure Nullriver would have already pumped out an update and would continue to make the app better and better.

I wish I'd gotten it while it was up. However, I think they'll probably release it for jailbroken iphones soon. I know I'd be pissed if i were the developers having spent time making the software only to have it killed by cell carriers or whoever pulled it.

Ha ha I have it and you don't!
Um, but I gave up on making it work on my Windows XP machine, so it's just been a waste of money so far.

I used it everyday for the last ten days. My home town doesn't have 3G, but it was nice having internet on my laptop while at home. I also used it in the airports coming and going.
Very nice app.

No question is stupid here.
NetShare is an app that was on the App Store for a limited time. It allowed you to use your phone to access the net on your laptop. This is called tethering and cell phone providers frown on this practice. Some sell cards that plug into your laptop to provide the same service but this app did the same thing for free.
If I had to guess, ATT had a lot to do with this app being pulled.

Basically makes your phone act as a wireless router allowing you to connect a laptop or PC to the internet through the phone :D
Wish I had a time machine so I could go back and get it....

This is from Lincoln who has a Mac:
When under the TCP/IP tab, select "Manually" instead of "Using DHCP with manual address" so that you can input a Subnet Mask. For the IP, use 192.168.10.2, and for the Subnet, use 255.255.0.0.
Also make sure that when under the Static tab on the iPhone, Subnet Mask says 255.255.0.0.
Here is some additional info (http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/08/01/ten_step_guide_to_sharing_your_iphones_connection_ with_netshare.html).

GADeputy,
If you missed out on purchasing NetShare, you can still tether if you jailbreak your phone by using MobileTerminal and 3Proxy.

Netshare is by far, one of my favorite Apps. I used it on the drive from Florida to Tennessee and it worked flawlessly (of course there were times when I had to use EDGE, ugh). It's a shame Apple removed it from the App Store. That being said, I will help macgirl get back at Jobs if they disable this App.

I finally got it working. I had to also use Proxifier along with Netshare but it works really well. The speed is actually pretty quick on Edge. I was surprised.
dturner, thanks for the help.

Most excellent! It will be much easier with two of us to get enough eggs to thoroughly cover his car. ;)

Apparently you can still get netshare, but you have to create a new account and change your location.

There's a way around this.
Mac Instructions:
1) Create a new account on your Mac.
2) Switch to that account
3) Open itunes
4) Create new account... When you get to the billing part select "CHANGE COUNTRY" it's in light gray at the top to whatever country has it (sweeden does not btw).
5) Search and Purchase with ITUNES GIFT CARD!
PC Instructions:
1) Buy a Mac
2) Read Mac Instructions.
3) Stop being so Mad. Your instructions are the same... It's just a little more time consuming since you'll probably have to download iTunes on the new user account... MAYBE.
