I have read on the net, that when I use...let´s say ZiPhone to jailbreak my 1G iPhone, the files inside the phone will be permanent!???

I have an exampel: I have used iLiberty to jailbreak my 1.1.4 iPhone (1.1.1 out of the box), and some strange/"funny" stripes are showing on the screen, and my applications are crashing all the time, - not always the same ones!

I have done some restores without luck.

Is I´m stuck here, or is there a way out of this nightmare?

Thanks..

If there's something wrong with your phone, Restore it. However, it is important to not restore from a backup. While backups do contain things like Notes, SMS messages, etc., they also contain files that were generated by the jailbreaking process and unauthorized applications. If you have a backup, delete in iTunes Preferences, and you will simply have to either set up as a new phone and give the phone a name and select syncing options after the Restore.

Hi and thanks for answering Lincoln!

My BIG problem right now is, that I´m stuck, and can´t out of these strange stripes on my iPhone display. http://www.linkmaster.dk/Diverse/iphonestreg.jpg , and my applications are crashing sometimes!?

Some guys around here have told me that it´s not hardware, but the jailbreak program / the way I jailbreak my iPhone. (I have used iLiberty+ on 1.1.4 - /1.1.1 out of box).

When I restore my iPhone with iTunes (shift + restore), and everything seems to run smooth, the *¤#" ;) stripes are back!!??

I really hope somebody can help me out, because it drives me crazy, and I thinking of buying a "real" expensive iPhone 3G 2.0....hmm

More info: I got my iPhone (1.1.1) in October 07, and after updating to 1.1.2 -> 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 there has been no serious problems. This summer I went on a holiday, downloaded some Gmails, surfed the internet some days, - and suddenly...my iPhone went crazy! I have used Customize 2.0 with a lot of troubles, but this application should be far away when I restore...right?

That's interesting. I would blame those stripes on the hardware, but the thing is, they show up in screenshots as well, so software's to blame, at least partly.

Try an Restore to stock one more time. If the stripes persist, you'll have to take it to Apple (they'll look at it so long as it's not jailbroken) or break down and buy an iPhone 3G.

Thanks again!

I really begin to blame the jailbreak software because: Applications and the Firmware versions is "only" softwaresystem (like on PC and MAC). But the jailbreak programs are doing something in the "BIOS" system of the iPhone. And like my PC, when I mess up the BIOS, it won´t clear when I re-install windows...follow me!? ;-)

I think iPlus or iLiberty have messed up my Baseband or whatever they are called...? Remember my iPhone is 1.1.1 OTB, upgraded to 1.1.4.

So my BIG "1 million dollar" question will be: should I restore and virginize all the way back to 1.0.2, and then upgrade again to 1.1.4 or even try out 2.0.1?

Don't be so sure - the screenshot process probably copies the image out of video RAM, so if there's a problem with the RAM it could show up in the screenshot as well.

I have an Xserve that once had a bad video card and I was able to send Apple screenshots showing the problem because of the way the Mac screenshot program worked.

That's true. To the OP - I suggest you Restore to stock 1.0.2 and take it to an Apple Store. If the phone has hardware issues, they'll replace it.

its the software you used to jailbrake, I think somebody else had that exact problem.

Guys..come on..."hit me with a solution"...:-)

I can repair my computer when I sleep, but I can´t figure out, how to fix my problem:

1. Fix the strange (software?) stripes on iPhone display.
2. Fix it, so I can unlock 2.0 (now I can upgrade, but NO jailbreak..)

But thank you so much for your time!!! Thumbs up to you guy here!
