I have a page dedicated to games, a page for navigation , a page for weather and aviation stuff, and well you get the idea. Is this obsessive compulsive or what?!

I have pages sorted by category, i.e., games, navigation, information, etc. Seems perfectly normal to have your apps ordered and not bunched together so you can find them quickly. :2cool:

Mines the same, mostly.

My first page is what I use everyday:

My second and third pages are for games and what not:

http://www.9handsracing.com/steve/iPhone%20pics/Steve's%20iPhone%20pictures%20103.png

And my fourth and fifth pages are for more utility and productivity based apps:

My first page is stuff that I use on a regular basis, and I have one page dedicated to games. The last page is just random stuff (but no games).

I've really been trying to keep it to 3 pages, I don't know why... I'm sure it's inevitable that i'll have to use more than that but for now I delete everything that isn't too important.

Mine's not really organized at all - I just know what page every app is on. The first is stock order, with MxTube in YouTube's spot, Evernote in Notes' spot, WeatherBug in Weather's spot, and biteSMS it SMS' spot. Cydia and Installer also reside on that page.

id really like to have everything organized, but theres no way i could ever do that if you have to drag every single app where you want it to one at a time. i usually just have whatever i use the most closer to the first screen

One thing I have noticed with Apps crashing all the time is whenver a lot of them are getting put on the phone at one time. A co worker of mine didn't even have the 2.0 software on her phone, and didn't know about the apps. So I told her about it, and she started downloading apps like crazy, 100+. The next day when I helped her install, after waiting the hour for the apps the sync, NONE of them worked, not a one! This also happened for one my other friends, he downloaded about 10-15 apps from iTunes and went to sync NONE of them worked either. I have never had more than one app crash, I pretty much only download new apps from the iPhone while I am at work.

SmartAlx, How many apps do you download at a time?

I think what might be the problem is that people are restoring their phones as new, then putting A BUNCH of apps on, thus all the apps are failing.

IMO

SmartAlx

None of that is true for me. I put apps on my phone slowly. I generally see a new one i like and put it on my phone to try out. Before I know it, I have 3 pages of apps and they start crashing.

Restarting the phone does nothing. Taking the apps off of the phone isn't an option either because I lose all of my settings.

The only thing that's worked is backing up the phone and restoring it from that backup. But that takes about an hour, on a GOOD day!

Really, 2.0.x just sucks. Plain and simple. I'm not surprised that there's a class action lawsuit against Apple. Not one bit.

I have mine setup similar to few users above as well! My first screen is my regularly/frequently used applications. Second page for Multimedias. 3rd for online apps. 4th for Games. Finally, 5th for system utilities.

^Sure, but I'm a glutton for punishment! :tounge:

Seriously, I type fast and don't know if taking the pics, going to the photo app, emailing them to myself, extracting them, and then linking is that much faster. Unless of course, I'm missing the faster way to do this! :laugh2:

Actually there is a faster way to do this...
If you hvae PC the iPhone should come upin the Digital Camera category of windows explorer.
If you have a Mac, you can open them in iPhoto. Not sure exactly, I will find out. Hold on!

EDIT:
Thanks to Lincoln in a post HERE (http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/iphone-3g/dont-want-iphoto-to-open-when-connecting-34781.html#post330570) he explains how to disable the feature, you ofcourse are looking to enable it.

It's strange. When I took pictures of my home screen, then looked it up on Windows Explorer there were doubles of other pictures. I wonder if this is a 2.0.2 thing?

They are actually there however the ones you take with the phone are .png files. If you have Photo Shop, Paint Shop Pro or another photo editing software that can read .png files you can view them and do whatever editing you'd like to them.

I gave up arranging my screens in categorical pages when I updated an app and it pushed it arbitrarily to the end of the list, and then had to do 3 or 4 restores that each rearranged the icons randomly.

When the home screen arrangement becomes a little easier, and more or less permanent (preferably more permanent) I will give that a shot again. But for now, I've got 8 and a half pages of apps in pretty much random order that I can hardly use anyway because I keep having to restore the frakking phone.

I just allowed iTunes to sync the phone by accident after it downloaded 9 or 10 app updates. It'll be another hour or two before I can use it, and all I want is to flip a switch in the alarm settings so I can go to bed without the alarm waking me up in a few hours... *sigh*

(yeah, there's the "slide to cancel", but I don't DARE use that, last time I did, I had to restore the frakking thing again because it lost the ability to see all its iPod content!)

</off topic>

Yeah, um... i'd like to see an iTunes tab for the arrangement of the home screen, where I can see all screens at a glance and click & drag with the mouse...

Fury-I agree that a page on itunes to organize the apps would be great! I keep trying to organize mine, and then I give up since when you move one they all flip around. uggghhh

I really need to put some important stuff on the dock. For some reason I have hesitated from changing any of the dock apps. If I did that I could always get to the important stuff no matter what page I am on. I am always flipping back to page 1 for my calendar.

I stopped my quest for apps after certan apps crash the i pod and totally erase the music library, so I have 12 trusted apps right now as having to go through recovery is not worth it.

I downloaded the SDK with the only intent to be able to make 'icons' for your different pages. I know it would take up a spot on your screen but looking at the screen caps on most peoples phones listed above, it would not hurt anything.

My idea was to make an 'app' that was basically just a label that said GAMES or PRODUCTIVITY or ENTERTAINMENT ..... you get the point. You would organize that page on your phone with the icon on the top left and then as you scroll thru the pages, you just look at the one icon instead of all 16 to find the page you want with the app you want.

My only problem; messing with the SDK was far more complicated with my very little programming knowledge so I have done nothing with it. Here is someone elses chance to make a few programs and throw them on the App Store.... i would request a contributor credit when you click on it or something lol
