View Full Version : Silly wifey, updated via itunes and hack does not work

My wifes iphone was hacked, and was working fine. Then, she plugs it to the pc and when it asks to update the phone and itunes, she accepts. Now its not hacked, and appears to be in the activation mode. I've tried to re-hack it and have had no luck.

Is this phone unhackable now? I'm assuming its just back to the original settings and would be fine for somoene on AT&T who wants to enter a contract.

yea you're right. Nothing wrong with the phone, it just needs a "live" sim. Sell it or unlock it or activate it. Your choice.

You can't really ever "brick" the iPhone. Take it to an Apple store if all else fails and they plug it right up in their mac and it works likes a champ. 1% of iphoners ever have to take their phone to an apple store, though, so don't freak. The phone is fine.

the problem is i can't unlock it. None of the popular unlocking programs work, ziphone, liberty, nada.

did you try forcing it into DFU mode by holding both buttons till the phone resets and then letting go of the sleep/wake button only till the "connect to iTunes" screen pops up on the phone??? That usually gets ziphone and liberty to see the phone.

What firmware did she upgrade it to? If it was 2.0, 2.0.1, or 2.0.2, you need to get the phone into DFU mode (see above) and then re-jailbreak and unlock using PwnageTool (http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/iphone-modifications/guide-for-jailbreaking-unlocking-2-0-and-2-0-1-software-on-mac-and-windows-34355.html).

Tried that, it won't go into DFU mode.

No idea which one she upgraded to. I had 1.1.4 and now i have this issue. It won't go into DFU mode at all.

If you want to re-jailbreak, you'll have to get into DFU mode. It can take 100 tries, but it is possible. You just have to get the timing right.

However, Try DFU mode, hold for exactly 10 seconds.
