Has this happened to anyone else, where the colors of the calenders in iCal are different than the color of the Calenders in the Calender application on iPhone.

Anyone know a way to fix?

My iCal cal colors match my iPhone. But when I synced my husbands phone to iCal the colors showed up different on his phone. I am syncing his iPhone to my MacBook. I have not tried to figure it out yet, since he does not seem to care about the colors. If I have time I will mess with it tonight and see what I can figure out.

Thanks koko!, I wish I could bring my MBP into work and try stuff as soon as I realize they go wrong, or just play around with my computer! Thanks for looking into it!

I cannot figure this out! UGGGH. It is driving me crazy. Why are my iphone calendar colors fine and his are not when I am syncing both phones to the same ical calendar!

The ical and iphone calendars will only match colors if you are using Mobile Me. If you're syncing through itunes, they will not match.

Where do you know this from...the iPhone just switches the colors for the different calenders. Example

iCal

Personal
School
Work

Now for the iPhone
Personal
School
Work

All of the colors are the same just moved around. If what Flwr said is true, its almost like Apple is playing games and intentionally switching up the colors.

Koko, do you have MobileMe?

I read it on Mobile Me Support Page on apple.com

Sometimes, it pays to do research

And yes, Koko does have Mobile Me and I'm guessing her husband does not. Which would explain why her colors match and her husband's do not.

Thanks, I guess I just am going to have to get used to the different colors, no biggie, at least there are different colors now.

I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you. I wasn't looking for the answer to that question. I just sorta stumbled over it doing research on Mobile Me, so I can't even tell you where I saw it. :frown:

Sorry again....:embarrassed:

Don't be sorry, you answered my question! I am not surprised that Apple did, they want people to get MobileMe.

Thanks, Flwr. I do not know why Apple set it up that way. My husband and I both have mobile me, but he has his own account and I have mine. It would make sense if we had a family plan but when I got mine I did not realize that.

I synced his iphone to my macbook so that he would have my calendar and contacts when I got 3G and gave him my v1. I set up his phone to sync his mac mail to his phone, but we have not synced his calendar. He only uses the phone calendar, not the computer or mobile calendar, so it does not matter to him. What I want to do is be able for both of us to sync our calendars via mobile me so when we both add items we both get them updated, but I do not think there is a way to do this. And I am afraid to mess with it too much and screw up my set up that is working most of the time.

And it is annoying that his ical calendars are the wrong colors since I have many calendars. I have: Lisa, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Darren, school, work, and holidays. On Darrens phone Lisa and Holidays are the same color!

Koko,
I am thinking of trying the demo of MM (again) and giving it another shot. I really want the push email, and being able to access m calender from campus and from my machine, without using google calender (I like iCal better).
My question is if I get MM will I have to sync all my contacts to MM? So they aren't syncing from address book? I guess I do no really know what exactly I am asking, I am going to get MM account and any questions I have I will post em up.
I just really want ONE calender, not by using neuva sync or busy sync

EDIT:::I am just signing up now and remember one reason why I didn't go through with MM. In the mail feature of MM, there is no way to set the "from" address to another email is there?
I really don't want to go through the hassle of two emails and telling people which one to send stuff to.
I am going to think about it before I sign up again.

I am confused about how the Mobile Me syncs contacts. It seems that I have more contacts on my phone than I can see when I visit mobile me on the internet, although I have not investigated this thoroughly. I will spend some time this week checking this out for you. (I think when you set up Mobile Me from your Mac, it will take your address book with it).

I only use the online Mobile Me at work, with Int Explorer, which is does not like. So if you want to have access to macmail where you have to use a machine with Int Explorer, you will be limited. If you are on Safari or Firefox, it will work well. I use my mobile me/mac mail on my iphone, my Macbook, and at work on Int Explorer 7. The experience on Int Explorer 7 honestly sucks.

The calendar sync is working very well. Whatever I add to iphone, ical or mobile me calendar online all sync together. I have multiple calendar colors for me, my kids, my husband, and work. I am very happy with this.

I will check out the email question you have also. I do not have need to change the from address, since I use gmail and macmail. Gmail doesn't push to the iphone, but the IMAP works really well. I still use gmail for a lot of stuff. Basically because I am too lazy to change all the sites that have that email.

I will post back for you after I check the mail question for you.

EDIT: All contacts sync perfectly to Mobile Me and back to address book on the Macbook. I just found a contact I added last night to my phone and it showed up in both places!!

EDIT 2: I do not know about changing the reply from address. It will only let me chose myname@mac.com or myname@me.com

I think what I am going to do since I don't really need PUSH email from my gmail account and I do not want go through the hassle of telling everyone a different email, I am just going use the MM mail for all my iCafe and then get PUSH calender which is what I really need. Well not really PUSH calender, but one where I can access the same calender on campus as well as on my MBP.

Thanks again koko!

You're welcome! You will like the calendar sync. I had a few issues with it the first few weeks that MM came out, but since then it works great. And the colors sync for the different calendars when you sync with MM.

I have to say, I love MM. The calendar sync is great. I use it for everything. Today, I made a ton of entries for meetings for the year and when I got home, they were all on my computer. I love that.

I also love the picture gallery and the push email....I'm still in my trial, but I am totally subscribing in December when my trial is up
