:gasp:
Interesting (and thorough) evaluation of i-phone's 3G reception issues. (PC World Article link below).
Indications include:
August 22nd as a speculative release date for 2.0 firmware upgrade
That daycoincides with Apple announcementof i-Phone 3G debut in 20+ additional countries.
Let's hope..... (article begins towards bottom of page in below link)

And as you probably know by now, it is out and ready for downloading. Another bug fix.

No it isn't. 2.0.2 is different from 2.1.x. The OP was doing this forum a service, but so many iPhone users on this board are poorly schooled in tech stuff, ergo the silly responses to this reasonable post.

2.1 has been rumored to be released in September, along with the push notification service. Aug 22nd is 4 days away, so I don't expect anything else until September.

My apologies for the typo on 2.0 - as the PCW article points out the reference is to firmware update 2.1. The update recently published was 2.01 not 2.1 ..... Sorry for confusion. I do appreciate however, the substance of the writer.
This article tries to remain diplomatic by all appearances. There is no one - finger pointed at either AT&T or apple. Rather from a non-editorial stance, the facts are merely stated regarding various possibles that could be resulting on lack of 3g's performance.
For what it's worth ....

take some friendly advice and leave your iPhone at home. Cocentrate on showing off your id at as many establishments as possible!
The only upgrades I'd concern myself with are;
from Stoly to Belvedere or Level;
Canadian Mist to Johnny Walker Black;
Cuervo to Patro~n Silver Reserve;
...... Enjoy your right of passage!

I was directed to that link thru igoogle. But nothing shady to me about PC World reviews they've been in the business since before I entered this world.

LOL, ok...I definitely wont be leaving my ID behind since I look like I'm 18, so the waiter/bartender will certainly card me.
And thanks for the "other" upgrades :wink:

I expect the 2.1 update to be released at the same event as the rumored new MacBooks, iPods, etc, will be. Also, the push notification service that's going to be on the 2.1 update was not released (http://www.tuaw.com/2008/08/19/push-pulled-from-latest-iphone-firmware-beta/) in the latest build of the firmware.
