I have the season 5 of niptuck I want to add to my iPhone. It's in the library and everything but it will not go into my movies or tvshows section and will not sync onto my iPhone. Yet it's in my movies section. I don't understand how to get it onto my iPhone. It's in iTunes and converted and everything.

I use the Cucusoft DVD to IPOD converter. Its a nice program and you can even pick your bitrate to save space. Just put Blue Harvest on my new Iphone this morning, it looks great!

Cucusoft and Xilisoft are the best for PC. I have found that the best by a very large margin though is Toast Titanium if you have a mac. It is a CD/DVD burning software, but it flawlessly converts all video types and automatically syncs it to your iTunes. Just one click, wait, and drag into your phone and its there, easy as that.

If you have a Mac and need a new program to put on it, I recommend Toast because it converts, but does much more as well.

I have been using DVD Fab Gold with mobile option for awhile now. It is an excellent program that will format the movie specifically to the iphone. It is spendy at around $50. Works flawlessly on my PC. Does not work for Mac

I didn't want to pay for a converter and found a free one. Is that why it didn't work? I mean the episodes are sitting in iTunes converted to iPhone and I just can't seem to get it to recognize it. How do you put it on? Mine is sitting in the movies section and I tried dragging onto my iPhone and it just wouldn't let me

Convert it on Handbrake and it should be fairly simple.

iChristian

Maybe. Depends on if you can put it onto a DVD, and possibly rip it off of the DVD itself using Handbrake, the best video converter out there... and its free!
And no, its not a silly question at all. I'd try putting it onto a DVD and then ripping it off the DVD using Handbrake. Hope this helps.

linkage for handbrake?
I forgot the name of the converter. I'm on the phone and I'm on. 5 hour trip that I wanted to watch the season on. I'll have to look at my computer later. And yes I clicked on the video tab and it didn't even show the files to sync to iPhone. It was only in my library but wouldn't sync to iPhone

If the files are in iTunes they are in the right format. Do what jarofclay has suggested. Open iTunes, plug in your phone and go to the Movies tab once iTunes recognizes your phone. Your movies will be listed there. All you have to do is check the ones you want then click Sync.

that's not true milehigh. I've had movies formatted that showed up on iTunes but wouldn't sync over. For both iPhone and iPod.

They show up in the movies section and when I plug in the iPhone it doesn't say show anywhere to add the movie. But ill have to look again to be sure but I tried all routes to get it on the phone.

It is in the Movie tab once you connect your phone. Not in the Movies section on the left in iTunes.

Did you find them? If they are really in your iTunes library then they are in the right format and you'll find them in the Video tab when you plug in your phone. If they aren't there then they really aren't in iTunes and you'll have to go back to square one to figure out how to convert them to the correct format.

Not sure where you're at or how you got there, but here's some stuff I have discovered through trial and error and a bit of Googling. :)

First off, god bless the iPhone...especially on long plane flights. (Ok..enough of that)

Ok.. let's start this puppy from scratch and see how much luck we have.

First you're gonna need a decrypter to be able to copy the DVDs. These directions are for Windows, btw.

Go grab DVD43 ( www.dvd43.com ) it will decrypt the DVD on the fly, so you don't have to rip it to the HD and THEN Handbrake it. Eliminates a step and speeds it all up a bit. Download it now and install it. (I'll wait)

Ok.. now go get a copy of Handbrake. ( http://handbrake.fr ) Install that one and get the DVDs ready to go.

All righty then... now put the DVD in the drive and fire up Handbrake. DVD43 should already be running in the taskbar down by your clock. Looks like a little happy face which will "wake up" and smile at you when it finishes decrypting. (Only takes a second)

In handbrake, click on the "source" and browse to your DVD drive. On that drive you will see some folders. Look for (and choose) the Video_TS folder and click "Ok" Now click on the "Title" tab. Here's where you need to do a little detective work.

Under the Title tab you'll see a bunch of files with varrying times. This is every video file on that disk. The actual episodes should stick out like a sore thumb. Check the disk and see how many episodes are on the disk and look for that many simmilar times. For example if you have 5 half hour episodes, you'll find 5 22 min (or there about) files. Make sense? Pick the First one on the list.

Then you'll need to name the files you'll be creating. Put them in a folder where you can find them. I always name mine with the episode number first, then the title. This helps keep them in order! ie.

D:\My Disk\Files\TV Show Name\01 - The First Episode Name

Repeat for all the subsequent episodes.

Ok, now the REALLY fun part. The settings. Here's how I do it.

Use the Iphone preset:

Then change...

H.264 (ipod) to MPEG 4
No Crop to Auto Crop
Uncheck Chapter Markers box
leave average bitrate at 960
Leave everything else as is...

Once I started using these settings, I haven't had to RE-convert anything to get it on the Iphone!

Then just hit the "Add to cue" button and do the same for the rest of the episodes. After you get them all in there, hit encode and go grab a beverage and let the dog out. It will take a little while, depending on the speed of your system.

When they're done, just move the directory into your iTunes "TV Shows" directory, open itunes and do a "Add folder to library". That will move them into your TV Shows tab. You might want to check and or clean up anything now and also look for some nice album art for your shows.

Click the check box in front of the episodes you want to load up onto your phone.

Then just hook up your iPhone, click on over to your Videos tab and you should see the show name in with the rest of the TV Shows. Check it to sync the shows you just ripped and hit the sync button.

Ta-da! :)

Handbrake is more of a DVD ripper.

For converting existing videos, I use videora. (another FREE program)

You can use the same encoding settings as you do in Handbrake.

Are you dragging the clip into the library of itunes and not a folder of itunes that is in explorer or finder (PC or mac)?

Mrsmaris

basically I have movies open in itunes, i clicked add file to library, added my first episode of niptuck. and it shows up in the movies section. I plugged in my iphone, went to the movies section, went throught he ENTIRE section of the iphone and it recogizes other things ive actually gotten from itunes but does not list my niptuck episode. so i put it into the "purchased" section. and in the video section i clicked sync the purchased section. so right now its "backing up" my iphone and as soon as it is done i will let you know if the episode is in my iphone but i highly doubt it is.. *rolls eyes*

Sometimes even when a video converter makes a video iPod/iPhone-compatible, iTunes still won't recognize it as such. When that's happened to me, I right click on the video in my iTunes library and select "Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone" (or you can click on the video once to select it, and choose this option from the Advanced menu at the top). It takes a while for it to convert, so you have to be patient, but it will create a duplicate copy of the video in your library that will work on your iPhone. After it's done, you can delete the original file in your library to save hard drive space - just be sure you delete the right one since the files will be identical.

I'm gonna try that converting option cause I have a file that was converted over with videora and it won't sync on neither my iPod or iPhone. It's on itunes and everything is checked but won't show up on neither.

I had the same trouble as Mrsmaris and here is the solution: open Itunes make sure your phone is plugged in. On your very left of Itunes you should see your library, store, phone, play lists ect. You want to click phone from list and you will see another list
of a library of your phone this time click movies and check first and second box (you will probaby need to scroll down the page a bit) now look back to very left side of Itunes again and sync your phone again. You will see it transfer takes a couple of minutes. Voila!! You now can open ipod feature of phone and you will go to video and movie will be there.

I would also like to add and ask please don't let things like this happen because it's very frustrating PLEASE PLEASE STICK TO THE TOPIC. It took 5 pages to come somewhat close to the answer. It took 5 pages for people to talk about programs they like best.....:(

I tried several of the free one's and I couldn't figure them out, although I'm sure I'm the only one who can't. My point is, If you want something very easy, simple and faster no guess conversion, Cucusoft is the best. It might cost a little but again, It's really great product. I love it especially when I do my multiple episodes in one disc.
