Your thoughts on EverythingiCafe's news format

I'm considering a transition from a "news portal" to more of a blogging format. Believe it or not, there is quite a bit involved in getting this to work properly. It also would change how news is delivered on the site. Just curious if you would prefer your news in a "blog format" whereby there would be a number of articles on the homepage, complete with tags, categories, etc.
