After jailbreaking, I decided it was a bit confusing, a bit more laggy on my phone, and most of all I seem to lost 3 bars on 3g(which brought it down to 1). Im thinking of completely restoring my phone and set it up as a new phone instead of backing it up because I restored it once with the backup and nothing happened (still got less bars than before). Will I lose my contacts from this and will this restore help me phone to get back better reception I used to have?
Please help, thanks!

It may not help the bar situation, but when you restore as new phone, yes you loose contacts. I would advise you to sync everything first before you restore, then simply sync once you have a good restore.
Good luck

adlx21, yes it will completely delete EVERYTHING on your phone and you won't get it back if you restore it as a new phone because that's the whole point. By deleting EVERYTHING on your phone as a new phone, and i mean EVERYTHING, it deletes and usually completely wipes out traces that your phone has been jailbroken. If you have your contacts in your Address Book on your Mac or have them in your email contacts, then it should be re-synced when you sync your phone again. As for the reception problem, it probably should help with your problem because jailbreaking your phone can mess with lots of things, which is why its better to just stick with the software apple provides. If you had better reception before and then right after you jailbroke it and the service went down, there probably was a problem with the jailbreak. So, I suggest you do restore it as a new phone so you can get rid of all the corrupted software for next time you take it into apple if you're having trouble because they'll void your warranty if they find out. And if you're still having problems with the reception, take it into apple but ONLY if you restored it as a new phone because they run tests on it to make sure you didn't jailbreak it. Looks like you're just gonna have to to bite the bullet, restore it as a new phone, and either re-add your contacts by syncing them on from your address book or put contacts into your address book manually. Good luck! Hope this helps.

The Apps will remain on your iTunes just like all of your songs and videos. You're not restoring your whole iTunes. THAT would suck. You're only deleting all the contents on your phone..thats all. Make sure that if you bought apps on your phone that you transfer them onto your iTunes before restoring the phone itself. After that, al systems are go for a full restore as a new phone :2cool: Good luck! If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

I understand the full restore but does itunes back up all entries made to those apps like the different list I've made in one of my list apps.

I'm pretty sure that everything is erased..even for the apps. And you have to get rid of the notes because they could contain corrupted software. You must get rid of all remnants that were on the phone when it was jailbroken.

just sync your contacts to ical or outlook and then you can check mark the box "replace items on this iPhone" and it will put your contacts and even calendars back in.
Even with the apps on your iTunes, you will lose saved data that the backup process has saved even though the apps will go back on, e.i. game progress or info put into apps like e wallet will all be gone.
Believe me, I'm in the middle of this and its a PITA....

I don't think any SIM card can save contacts to the card itself..haha

Just do a backup first. After restore, sync and everything will be there. You should leave it jailbroken though, it's a lot more fun. :2cool:
Good luck.
